"The Apache webserver is currently down"....eh?!

Forums:

Hope someone might have an idea on this.

Virtualmin reports on its Webmin module index that Apache is down. (The button for starting Apache is a big red X.) However, it's not--at least not that I can tell. The server is serving pages, and I don't get any error messages when restarting the service from the command line. Webmin's Apache module also indicates it's not running.

Clicking the start button in either the Apache module or the Virtualmin module yields this result:

[code:1]Failed to start apache : Apache does not appear to be running :

getting even closer

Forums:

I got much closer using webmin

I created 3 virtual directories: 123.com , abc. com, yy.com

it seems which ever I create first that the web page resolves

in example if I create 123.com and call 123, abc, or yy they all point to 123.com

in the exist virtual directories the there listed each with the on server name

so what did I missed

thanks

Frank

debian etch, apache 2.2.8 start problem

Forums:

Hi guys,

Having some problem with start apache 2.2.8 from webmin's "Apache Webserver" Interface.

If I click on the "start apache" link at the top right corner, I will always get an error message stating "Failed to start apache : Apache does not appear to be running :

Starting web server: apache2"

This does not happen if I log in via ssh and restart my apache using /etc/init.d/apache2 restart or /etc/init.d/apache2 start or /etc/init.d/apache2 stop

Any idea why this might be so?

Regards, Calvin

Logwatch has stopped working

Forums:

For some reason logwatch is throwing this error message:

[code:1]Can't exec "sendmail": No such file or directory at /etc/cron.daily/0logwatch line 1006, <TESTFILE> line 2. Can't execute sendmail -t: No such file or directory[/code:1]

Could anyone give me a shove in the right direction please?

Thanks

Paul

Webmin not appearing

Forums:

I've been using webmin to admin my server for a few years now. However, I haven't had to add any new domains to the server for ages to haven't opened up webmin recently. However, just tried to and the page just hangs and hangs, nothing appears. I'm running on default port 10000 remotely, so usually access it here:
