DBI connect failed : Access denied for user ''@'localhost' to database 'mysql'

Forums:

Dear Forum When in Webmin, if I try to access any of the 'Global Options' on the 'MySQL Database Server', the above message appears.

Its the same message if I'm in Virtualmin and tick the 'MySql database enabled' option when in 'virtual server details'

The user I am logged in as in webmin is 'root'

Any help here, please

Webmin and Themes not showing tiles/images

Forums:

I am not sure this is the right place to post. But this is the only webmin forums I have seen so far that comes close to public support.

The problem I am having is whenever I log into webmin, under ANY theme, none of the images show, it will simpily not download the tiles or buttons or anything like that. I have tried reinstalling, changing versions from newest to older ones. This is happening on 2 of my servers.

1 is a Fedora core 4 x86 other is a Fedora core 5 x64

I would tell you the webmin versions, but like I said, I have tried 3 different ones.

Password Change Not Working (with fix)

Forums:

Howdy,

Using Webmin / Virtualmin Pro on my CentOS 4.3 box, I was running into the issue of users not being able to change passwords.

The error message received was:

Incorrect old password

After some poking around, it looks like the method used for testing the old password is to use the UNIX Crypt() function.

I suspect this breaks on newer systems that are using MD5 to store passwords, rather than crypt.

Adding Hostname in BIND.

Forums:

Hi.

Here is the problem. My machine is named alpha.something.com

I added alpha.something.com to the virtual server thru virtualmin. Now i added

alpha.something.com as an ADDRESS record, with the IP of my machine.

Why doesnt it work ? When i put alpha.something.com it doesnt do anything and gives me website not found etc. Although on the same note, the other address records like mail.something.com ftp.something.com www.something.com ns1.something.com ns2.something.com

all work fine.

Bind Server

Forums:

When doing an initial check on virtual min I get the error:

The BIND DNS server version 8 or 9 does not appear to be installed on your system, or has not yet been set up properly in Webmin's BIND DNS Server module. If your system does not use BIND, it should be disabled in Virtualmin's module configuration page.

Session foo in log entries

Forums:

I have been noticing an odd entry in my connections log "timeout of session for foo".

I never see a session opened for "foo", so it seems odd that it is timing out.

The entry appears sporadically, see logwatch extract below.

I am not aware of any problem related to this, it just seems like a "loose end" that might be cleaned up, if no one has any idea, that's ok.

I am running:

RHEL 3 with up2date operating Webmin 1.221 Apache 2.0.46 with a few active sites.
