Help! (Home for newbies)

I hope that this would be simple!

Using Outlook, for example, I have entered the user details:

Name Email Address

Server - pop3 Incoming server - mail.domain.com SMTP - mail.domain.com

London info username name.domain (approved format) password

With smtp, I have it set to authenticate on the same info as pop3.

pop3 incoming seems to work, but smtp doesnt.

I have searched the forums and guides but can find any pointers (I would be surprised if they are not there, somewhere).

what obvious thing have I not/done/wrong!

Hello all,

As I wanted to use a joomla quickstart package, I manually loaded the pack onto the server as 'root' (yes, I ftp'd on as root!) and installed it fine. Other install.sh scripts have loaded up as the correct ftp user.

Now I try to add things, I cant - using Joomla's directory permissions indicator, everything is unwritable (755!).

Looking at other posts, I have set PHP script execution to 'FCGId (run as virtual server owner)'. I cant see any reference to suexec, though.

Any suggestions?

I seem to have problems with a domain which I moved across to a new server.

through webin I see the config file has the following: zone "parstrust.co.uk" { type master; file "/var/named/parstrust.co.uk.hosts"; allow-transfer { 127.0.0.1; localnets; }; };

yet when I look for the hosts file I see it at /var/named/chroot/var/named/parstrust.co.uk.hosts

is this correct ?

I let virtualmin do an update on ClamAV and now I get this error.

ERROR: Parse error at line 8: Unknown option freshclam ERROR: Can't open/parse the config file /etc/freshclam.conf

not sure if I should update this or clamd.conf ?

Hi,

I have 3 domains, one .com, one .es and one .co.uk

Right now I am using domain aliases but I have read that google won't index the 3. What is the best way to get the 3 indexed??

In the future the problem will be only with 2, as 1 of them will have a different language and therefore different context.

I am sure that this is a stupid, simple thing, but I cant work it out!

I have got my first site uploaded and working, but only when you use the URL. Add www. to the front and I get 'address not found'.

What have I done wrong?

I am using Google Apps as a backup mx to the domains I host. All of my DNS records are now setup and work properly (had to fool Google to get this to work correctly). What I would like to do is setup dual deployment for mail not only go to my domains but the backups as well.

I can't find the place to set a user's shell. Did it before but have spent an hour looking around for it now.

I guess an associated question is how can I change the dropdown for new user so that there are more than two options, "mail only" and "mail and ftp". I've tried setting "custom shells" under "system customization" but the new options I set up don't appear when I create a new user.

Any info would be greatly appreciated. I ran the VirtualMin Installer and it ran great... it got about past 3/4 mark and then kicked back with an error and deleted itself.

I don't know what would cause this. I should have enough memory / so I don't think that is the problem [384mb] The only thing I can think of is: I did run and try to configure a straight Webmin install beforehand and then ran the uninstaller etc/uninstall Any insight as to what I need to clear or get some results to give it another go would be helpful.
