About 6 months ago i installed virtualmin without any problems on my server.. Since this weekend some site owners noticed that when they send with squirrelmail that the sender name is incorrect.

When you recieve an mail from a domain you see: info.example@servername.nl instead of info@domainname.nl

I searched the forum about this problem but nothing helped so far.

I'm using an external mail server (zimbra) on the same subnet as my virtualmin machine. Do I need sendmail and postfix? Or just sendmail? I need to be able to send mail through my zimbra server using authenticated smtp via tls. Also how do I remove Dovecot altogether?

I have nearly setup my freebsd server with webmin and virtualmin but got a little error and not sure where to change the path.

The status of your system is being checked to ensure that all enabled features are available, that the mail server is properly configured, and that quotas are active .. Mail server Sendmail is installed and configured. The Suexec command on your system is configured to only run scripts under /usr/local/www/data, but the Virtualmin base directory is /usr/home. CGI and PHP scripts run as domain owners will not be executed.

I am preparing to move a domain from cPanel to Vmin Pro. It's still hosted and resolves elsewhere.

Sometimes, instead of doing a migrate, you just want to do a partial move, perhaps by way of housecleaning. I want to use Install Scripts to setup new versions of some apps.

I notice that some script installers fail in this situation, and some succeed.

Specifically, Joomla works, and LimeSurvey fails with: ...only partially complete. LimeSurvey database creation failed...404 not found

and SugarCRM fails with: DBI connect failed: Access denied...

I created my test user's folder in the "homes" directory of a virtual domain. I also created a "public_html" folder and added an index file therein. Thus, the path to that user's default web page is physically:

I edited httpd.conf thusly:

I have anew, clean VPS, running Centos 5.3 and am having problem installing VM Pro.

Using the wget command, supplied from the serial page, I initially had an error saying that perl wasnt installed, so i installed it. I then re-ran wget and it looked like it went all of the way through, however, there was a fatal error and it apparently uninstalled itself (by not dependancies).

I have checked the logs and cant see anyting obvious, but have got:

Hi all, I see dozens of these denied error messages in the /var/log/messages file:

The messages look similar to these:

named[1473]: query (cache) 'www.myDomain.com/A/IN' denied named[1473]: query (cache) 'anotherDomain.com/AAAA/IN' denied

I am very concerned because these errors appear to be saying that the name server is NOT responding to DNS requests. Is that true? If so, how can I fix this?

Information 1st. 1. Just moved all web sites from plesk to CentOS 5.2 and Virtualmin. 2. There are 2 of us that have websites on this server. 3. In my web site server list I have owners who need to login and manage their own server(s).

4. In Plesk there is a Parent Owner Group. In other words I would only see servers I am in control of. I could also Assign accounts to web sites for my customers to manage email web content etc.

Questions. Is there a way to do this with Virtualmin ?

I'm having an odd problem.

When I create a new virtual site, the virtual site's administrator can ftp and log in to all the proper services, just fine.

However, when I as the super admin create a virtual site non-administrative user, that user can never log in via ftp and always gets a 530 Login Incorrect error.

When I look at the system logs, I see an error such as proftpd[31291]: - FTP session opened. proftpd[31291]: - no such user 'anonymous'
