Help! (Home for newbies)

Hi all,

I have installed Majordomo with Postfix and after some initial problems it is now beginning to work as expected.

Some of the problems I am having have to do with the LOCK files majordomo applies when it responds to commands such as "lists". These commands are not being completed and the lock files are not being deleted. A typical error message from Majordomo to the list owner is

MAJORDOMO ABORT (mj_majordomo)!!

Can't open /usr/local/majordomo/lists/somelist.config

I just have my own domains on my server.

Should I set up each domain as it's own top level server...?

Or set up one main one and the rest as sub-servers?

Any advantages either way?

If better as subservers, can I still put a few domains on different ips, or would they need to be top level?

Dear friends,

I have selected to update latest scripts offered in virtualmin, and now I cannot access virtualmin anymore. ssh is working, webserver is working too.

When trying to access :10000 all I get is "page loading" and nothing happens. Just blank white screen.

I don't know how to restart virtualmin through ssh or if it would help so please ... advice.

Would like to ask you some help for virtualmin gpl. It's the first time we use it, and we had a bit of issues with the setting up of the first virtual hosting.

First we installed virtualmin gpl on a webmin, then created a new virtualhosting, new ip correclty work on browser like regular webpage, but we haven't yet set dns for the domain.

we have some problems with:

1 If you click on the server, then you are on "edit Server" screen, in that page you cant select the box for

Hi. I have a working IS with centos5.3 with Virtualmin installed. When i login in users e-mail in Usermin with correct username and password (like user.somedomain) the server says:An error occurred listing mail in this folder : Failed to connect to localhost:143 : Connection refused First thing in my mind was a firewall rejecting tcp port 143, but there is no such rule. Also i can't make folders, it just says "Error" and nothing more. Can anyone help ?

Ok, going from an old ensim into virtualmin - and there are lots more things in virtualmin!

Ran install.sh on my new server, install went great.

Now I want to secure it a bit. I used apf on my old server, and don't know (and don't see much documentation on) how to use the firewall module in virtualmin.

First, I changed sftp to a different port, that was easy enough. But what do I need to do in the firewall to open the port I changed to and close 22?

Hi dude, i newly buy a dedicated server... but it only come with webmin... no cpanel... normally on my other server i use cpanel... but now with webmin i understand nothing.. how to setup my ip, how to add domain name and host it... how to create sql database for each separate domain... i cant did it.. so on my new dedicated server i try to install virtual into the webmin... but when i try to create virtual host i got error message.. so i decide to uninstall webmin and virtualmin... this is done... but now that i try to reinstall virtualmin...

I have some files in /etc/skel that I would like copied into every home, regardless if it is a sub-server or a top-level server in virtualmin. This is due to php suexec configuration, specifically I need a php.ini copied. I noticed virtualmin doesn't copy /etc/skel for sub-servers. Is there any way to have it do so? What about just adding some script to be run when a subserver is created? Any suggestions/tips would be appreciated. Thanks,

How do I create a MySQL database as well as a MySQL user who has all privileges for accessing and modifying it.

I want to install wordpress mu with subdomain support, blog.domain.com The Virtualmin default installs it with directory support only, domain.com/blog.

In order to achieve this, I'm installing wordpress mu from source, but the MySQL database isn't connecting. I've tried creating the db using virtualmin and phpMyAdmin.

I'm setting up a new (vps) server. I have a new install of CentOS LAMP on it (an image from the vps host).

I want to put the virtualmin gpl on it. The virtual min install looks straight forward enough:

wget http://software.virtualmin.com/gpl/scripts/install.sh

then:

/bin/sh install.sh

but what I don't know is.... do I have mail functions on this thing already? Are mail services included in CentOS LAMP?
