Is it possible to use a pre-existing unix user to create a virtual server, or do I have to delete the original user and re-create it with virtualmin?

Hi - I'm not using the DNS module as I'm using outside DNS resolution. My server is behind a router, but in the DMZ host. I can connect to the :10000 site and the :20000 usermin using the DNS name I setup the server with, but with all my sub-domains, or any other DNS name that points to the IP address, doesn't work.
ok... so i have successfully installed virtualmin and centos 5.2 and everything seems fine... now a newbie question since mydomain is upan.edu.ph and I created subdomains au.upan.edu.ph, coc.upan.edu.ph, ui.upan.edu.ph... now my question is do i have to create a virtual server to my top domain upan.edu.ph in order to have a website and receive email for that domain?

hi all after much searching I have finely got phpmyadmin working for Virtualmin gpl. and I thought I would share it with every one in case others are completely lost like I was.
disclaimer let me start off my saying I am a complete noob when it comes to Linux and vps/ds servers coming from a windows cpainel/shard hosting environment so I am still learning and I am sure their are better ways to do this but this works for me. it may or my not work for you
I have an existing virtual server that is using the system shared address on Virtualmin PRO. So, user now wants a SSL certificate, so, I thought I would be able to go into edit virtual server, under configurable settings ((I'd swear I saw that before...) and change to dedicated IP, but, no option is available.
Under virtual interface, it says "No free IPs are left in the allocation range" which may have something to do with the problem...??
I use Webmin IP Access Control to allow only certain IPs access. When someone tries to hack in the Access Denied error appears to only in the miniserv.error log but not in secure.log.
I would first like to know why the message doesn't log in secure.log. The reason I ask is because I use ossec-hids active response to permanently deny hacking IP's which then adds them to iptables. Ossec scans the secure log and if it is not there it can't ban. So is there a way to do this? When Webmin bans a host does it just add the IP to hosts.deny?
I'm having some issues getting virtual interfaces to work. I've set up my virtual server to use an IP from the pool i specified in the server template. As far as I can see it add everything like it should be. But I am no guru at virtual interfaces. Actually I've never done it before.
Here are some of my settings: Network interface for virtual addresses = eth0 Default virtual server IP address = From network interface Default IP address for DNS records = Automatically detect external address
I've started using Webmin and Virtualmin recently for the first time after several years of using Plesk and cPanel. Overall I'm extremely impressed.
For a while I thought I was able to get a good IMAP connection, but now I can't get Dovecot to launch, even on restart. I've been able to get it to launch via SSH, but then it shows as not running in Webmin. I don't even know where to begin with this one, when I check the mail error logs they're blank.
So today I went ahead and did a yum update, which updated my system from CentOS 5.2 to CentOS 5.3. Most things appear to be working properly, except that virtualmin doesn't seem to be used when doing a "yum update" anymore, nor does it appear that any of the virtual hosts are running with suexec any longer, despite the module is installed and loaded.

I have a new domain set up in VM GPL on Centos 5.2. The site admin plans to use expression engine to manage content and needs to have a path to db.
When I use root access to create a db for him it is in /var/lib/mysql and I've set the permissions appropriately. But no matter what name I use I get this message:
Unable to select the database
Anyone have experience with this?
