FREE VIRTUALMIN TRAINING!!!

Hey Folks,

As part of my effort to give back to the community, I'm starting a bi-weekly training schedule to help new users of Virtualmin get familiar with the product.

=== PRICING ===

I want to get this part out of the way right now. This offer is FREE of charge, though you are entitled to pay if you feel it's been that helpful, however there will never be an obligation.

=== GRATITUDE-BASED MODEL (Mar 7, 2013) ===

Starting Mar 7, 2013 I am adding a small adjustment to my pricing model above. I'm introducing a "Gratitude-Based" model.

New Install of vitrualmin ERROR: Failed to query Postfix config command to get the current value of parameter virtual_alias_maps

So I installed virtual min to my Ubuntu Server and this error came up after finishing the post install guide and trying to set up a virtual server can't seem to find a fix anywhere.

Any suggetions

Cheers in advance.

lets encrypt challenge fails

I have installed a fresh virtualmin virtual server on an ec2. I have adjusted the ionos DNS A records to point to ec2 IP. When I request a certificate from lets encrypt (or using certbot in cli) I get

Type:   unauthorized
Detail: Invalid response from
http://${DOMAIN}.well-known/acme-challenge/Mv0tCvDDT73eYW83mgsmA6FtpIH13wq6cVp_WGeZ6xk
[2607:f1c0:100f:f000::28c]: 204

When I test in browser, the URL does indeed return a 204 but I would expect nginx to serve up a page with much more information. What am I doing wrong?

Doubts regarding what happens when a Virtualmin backup fails or is interrupted

Hello!

I didn't ask myself the question before, and I don't want to be too self-confident, making perhaps erroneous assumptions. May I humbly ask for a confirmation/clarification, please, if someone may tell me?

I'm wondering, is there a possibility the virtualmin virtual servers backup feature may leave temporary files behind? Or is there a virtualmin routine that regularly wipes those remnants in all cases?

Different Bash prompts after switching user

I have two servers: server1 and server2

Both have: Virtualmin...Administrative Options...Edit Owner Limits...Server Owner Limits

Allowed login type: Email, Ftp, SSH

Chroot jail domain Unix user: yes

When I "su server1" I get a bash prompt

When I "su server2" I get and error message and different prompt.

[root@host ~]# su server1

bash-4.2$

[root@host ~]# su server2

bash: /usr/bin/id: No such file or directory

dovecot fail after a server is deleted

Webmin 1.932 Virtualmin 6.08 Centos 7 Server example.com

I deleted a server: example.com. Some days later I had a reason to reboot the server. After the reboot Dovecot failed to start.

/etc/dovecot/dovecot.conf was looking for the ssl cert and key for the deleted server (example.com) and couldn't find it.

I edited dovecot.conf to manually remove the deleted server's entry, below, restarted dovecot and things were fine.

local_name example.com { ssl_cert = </home/example/ssl.cert ssl_key = </home/example/ssl.key }
