Got a problem not covered by the docs? Don't know where to look in the docs or in the forums? All of the other forums over your head? If you're new to Virtualmin, this is the place for you.

regarding https

Im trying out the Internet Explorer Beta 7

And it seems that Microsoft is really trying to warn people when a sites certificate is invalid. Now instead of the usual popup that you can answer yes to, they have a internal webpage display instead with the following information:

"There is a problem with this website's security certificate.

The security certificate presented by this website was issued for a different website's address.

secondary mail servers

Can somebody clarify how setting up a secondary mail server should work with virtualmin. I've set my backup vm box as a secondary mx in the virtual server module, but all this seems to do is add an extra mx record when creating the domain, is this correct?

Ideally what i would like to acheive is to have my backup vm box as the secondary mx, if the first is unavailable the email should be stored on the secondary and then forwarded to the primary when it comes back online, is this possible?

Cheers, Chris

Starting Sendmail

I know this must be a simple question, but haveing installed webmin, virtualmin etc, I am unable to start sendmail. It says that sendmail is installed and configured, but I do not appear to be able to start it. I know there is a button to start this. I have tried that and it refers to /etc/rc.d/init.d/sendmail start which I have found on the net and placed in the right place. Still it will not start.

Does anyone have a clue as to what I am doing wrong.

Could this also be why I am unable to log on via pop/smtp to send/collect emails.

Thanks in advance.

Missing Mail?

Im not sure what I've done, but I used to use everydns.net for my DNS information and mail use to be delivered fine.

Now I switched over all the sites hosted to use dnsexit.com because they have a simple perl script that runs as a daemon on the server and updates the dynamic ip address assigned to us (of course the IP address has only changed once in 8 months thankfully)

But now when I attempt to send mail to a couple different email address's that are on the server, it never gets delivered.

PHP paths seem to be a constant problem, any help appreciated.

Hello, My server is running Suse 10.0 with Virtualmin Unlimited, my problem seems to be paths for PHP include files.

For example a php script may have the following

include /config/settings.php And sometimes it will be something like include ./config/settings.php

This wont work unless I put in the complete path of /home/domainname/public_html/config/settings.php

Does anyone know why this is, or how to fix this?

User email playing nice with Outlook

I appear to have most everything else working. I can send and recieve mail via usermin's web client. I can not connect from a stand alone mail client such as Outlook. Outgoing mail says it is sent but stays in outbox and trying to recieve mail just hangs forever. I am just using Postfix as installed by default.

Any ideas?

Chuck

Pre-sales -- Install Scripts

how far behind the latest generation should we expect included script install/upgrades to be?

ie. in the Virtualmin demo, we can install outdated (read as security risks) versions of the following; I only checked the 4 listed below.

phpmyadmin Dec 2005 2.7.0-pl2 // current {2.8.1} XOOPS Jul 2005 2.0.13 // current {2.2.3} PHP-NUKE Apr 2003 6.5 // current {7.9}

( I appreciate that phpbb2 is able to be updated through Virtualmin to the latest version )
