Got a problem not covered by the docs? Don't know where to look in the docs or in the forums? All of the other forums over your head? If you're new to Virtualmin, this is the place for you.

Mime Types? How to set new one?

I have a web client that Im hosting, and he has a database of files, they all end in .sims2pack

He wants to set the mime type on his account so that .sims2pack files download in the browser instead of the browser trying to open them.

How is this accomplished using virtualmin?

He tells me that it is possible because the place where he downloads them from brings up a window in his internet explorer program prompting him to either open or save it. He wants the same thing to happen when people try to download the file from his site.

How is this done?

Upgrade Installer?

Hi all,

I just purchased downloaded the most recent install.sh and it is informing me that it cannot upgrade an existing virtualmin GPL install.

This is a problem since my clients need full access to change their e-mail accounts.

This effects a server which has not yet gone into production for clients, so it's not a rush item for me. Though an ETA as to when this may be solved would be appreciated.

Bind9 chrooted, starts/stops fine but virtualmin and system status report down

I set up bind (9.2.4) to be chrooted in /var/lib/named also, I set up RNDC (all from command line.

I adjusted all values in the bind module config and I can start/stop bind both from the CL and the bind module. Bind module reports the status of bind just fine.

Virtualmin (GPL) on the other hand asks me to start bind, when I do it keeps asking. Also the "System and server status" module reports bind as Down.

Any clue anyone?

suexec config

I am trying to get cgi scripts to work from virtual hosts. I thought is was automatically setup with webmin, but when I try to run a script I am getting an Internal Server Error. When I read the suexec log it says "command not in docroot". The suexec docroot is set to /var/www/ and the virtual servers are set to run under /home/virtualserver. If I edit the directives for the site and remove the SuexecUserGroup "#XXX" "#XXX" line the scripts will work, but I assume that is without suexec. I think this is the problem, but all of the config pages that I find for suexec are very vague to me.

Permissions Issue

I'm running Virtualmin 2.6.10 along with proftpd 1.2.10 and I am experience an issue where certain files in the user's home-directory are inaccessible. The permissions on the directory impose no limiations so I'm left to think that either webmin, virtualmin or perhaps some other program is moderating file-access in some capacity...? Has anyone any advice?

The directories not showing up are /home/public_html /home/logs /home/cgi-bin

Directories that do show up /home/.usermin /home/homes

Thanks!

Apache Version Incorrect

I'm using virtualmin and webmin on a SunFire v240 running Solaris 10. I reconfigured the apache module to use the apache 2.0 executables. For some reason it still thinks after the reconfig that its using apache 1.3.xx as "User" and "Group" entries keep ending up in my virtual hosts. I've even tried overriding the apache verion in the module config to say "2.0" but still the "User" and "Group" directives show up. Any idea how to remedy this?

Thank you,

Rob
