Got a problem not covered by the docs? Don't know where to look in the docs or in the forums? All of the other forums over your head? If you're new to Virtualmin, this is the place for you.

Sendmail installed - Unable to start

Running Fedora core 2.

I know I have sendmail installed, as I have checked through RPM -qi sendmail.

Mail is being sent and received throught the server, but Senmail is not running. Everytime I try to start sendmail I receive the following message

bash: /etc/rc.d/init.d/sendmail: /bin/sh
bad interpreter: No such file or directory

Can anybody explain what this means. I have tried crawling throught faqs etc, but I do not seem to be able to resolve this.

Can't create virtual servers

OK, after installing the free version of VirtualMin and struggling through the issues with suexec etc. I finally got a healthy installation running last night. However, whenever I try to create a new virtual server, when I hit the "Create Server" button I get the message that "https://www.[[my domain]]:10000/virtual-server/domain_setup.cgi" could not be opened, the error being "lost network connection" I've tried this with a couple of different browsers with the same result.

Spam through our servers.

Im not sure what I need to do to prevent this.

I created a bogus account in my outlook express email program and inputed a username of LudOm with no password and used the incoming and outgoing server as our domain name.

I sent the message and sure enough it was sent out from our server.

So I need to know how to stop this because apparently anyone can send an email through our servers which opens us up to all kinds of problems.

Thanks,

SMTP Failing

All of a sudden our outgoing mail is failing. Client gets an error on password. We have traced down an odd item. Virtualmin Pro is creating 2 names for each new email address we create. It creates the normal name style: joel@abc.com and it creates joel-abc.com

If we change our SMTP authentication name to the second with a dash, we are allowed to login and send mail? What happenend. I dont think this is normal as we havent had to do this in the past? We are using the lates update of pro

Thanks

Joel

Postfix and Canonical mapping

Maybe it's just me, but when I enable canonical mapping, SMTP stops responding and all connections time out. I noticed the module config help is looking for /etc/mail/canonical but the default is /etc/postfix/canonical. Essentially what I want to do is map user.domain@hostname to the primary e-mail address for the account so Squirrelmail, Horde, and scripts work automatically. I noticed someone posted a regexp but unfortunately my user names only include the prefix and it would be a couple of hundred to change.

webmin hangs

Hi Folks I've just installed Virtualmin on my server running Redhat ES3 and webmin 1.270 and adding a new virtual server goes well until the notice 're-starting werbmin' appears, and then it hangs. Everything else has worked OK, it just won't re-start webmin. Any ideas, please? Many thanks for the good work Laurie Bredbury
