Help! (Home for newbies)

Hello,

After I setup my first new domain and phpmyadmin I got this warningmessage:

"The mbstring PHP extension was not found and you seem to be using a multibyte charset. Without the mbstring extension phpMyAdmin is unable to split strings correctly and it may result in unexpected results."

My Virtualmin Pro is running on top of CentOS 4.3

As into another topic, I added only 2 domains. I could not reached them via another browser. Now I know the problem, the apache server is down. And I can't get it up again. Did a reboot, but with no luck.

When I want to bring it up I get the following error:

"Starting httpd: Syntax error on line 928 of /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf: The address or port is invalid [[FAILED]]"

I really did nothing strange (I come from a Plesk CP and learned not touch any configuration-files of a Linux CP box)

I installed virtualmin Pro onto a minimal installation of centos OS. I did give into the CentOS installation an hostname (vm10) and a domainname (anyhost.nl)

When I created my first domain (pesja.be) the creation went nice within Virtualmin Pro, but the website isn't reachable. it must be reachable because I use external dns-servers for this domain so I don't have to wait for the dns-server of virtualmin.

I tried to "ping" them (pesja.be also www.pesja.be), and that command gives the right reply

So I took the step and purchase VirtualMin Pro. I like to install this on a CentOS 4.3 server and I want to overcome some issues:

1. Which type of installation do I choose ? (I think the server installation)
2. Do I disable the firewall and/or also the SELunix? (Provide Virtualmin a firewall by itselfs)
3. Do I leave the default options of the server-install of do I check/uncheck other packages as a pre-install OS for Virtualmin Pro? (Beside editor-packages and text-base packages)

My backup server has another port for the SSH than the standard / default port 22.

Now if i wanna make a backup from Virtualmin to my backup server he still chooses the default port.(22)

Where can i change this...?

I am using Virtualmin v2.604

It shows where the additional webmin-modules should be listed ...

Hello,

I just installed Virtualmin and when I create a vserver, everything works except FTP using the default settings.

YES, I made sure that /etc/shells contained the right line, but the default config that Virtualmin writes when you make a vserver isn't letting me login.

Is there something I'm missing? All I want is for each vserver admin to be able to FTP to their home directory.

Any hints/suggestions??

Really pleased with Virtualmin - fantastic bit of software!!!

I have been migrating my sites over to my new server and spotted something odd. I have some sites where I upload files using PHP to a folder in the site. Previously I have had to change the permissions to chmod 757 to accommodate the upload, but 757 now throws up permissions problem on the new server. Changing the chmod to 777 solves the problem.

I am running FC5 Installed Webmin Installed Vitrualmin Installed ProFTPD through Webmin

Virtualmin does not detect ProFTPD. It just tells me that that feature is disabled. Everything is working fine. The Bind Apache Mail MySQL

Hi,

I have installed webmin and virtualmin (and I am very impressed) but there is one small problem. My default pages in /var/www/html are no longer being shown when I point my browser to the real machine. Instead the pages for the first virtual server appear?

Has anyone else had this problem?
