Got a problem not covered by the docs? Don't know where to look in the docs or in the forums? All of the other forums over your head? If you're new to Virtualmin, this is the place for you.

change location of /tmp/.webmin

is it possiable to change / redefine where virtualmin places its temp files?

The partition I have /tmp on isn't big enough to store the virtualmin backup tmp files before they get SSH'ed to another server hence a backup cannot occur.

I have tried to make a symbolic link that makes .webmin point to a partition that has more free space but each time the script gets run the link gets changed back to default.

Any help or suggestions very welcomed

The status of your system is being checked to ensure that all enabled features are available, that the mail server is properly configured, and that quotas are active ..

  BIND DNS server is installed.

Mail server Postfix is installed and configured.

The Apache module mod_actions is either not installed or not enabled.

.. your system is not ready for use by Virtualmin.

Even after enabling mod_actions, i still get the same error.

VirtualMin pro installation preparation

I am going to buy VirtualMinPro (10 user version). I am going to use Centos 4.4

I read the FAQ and it seems to suggest I should do a very minimal OS install.

Therefore, I won't bother to install any of the following Apache, MySQL, PHP, and Bind.

My various domains don't have a private IP address, so I don't think the Centros default vsftp will work for me, but you will probably install ProFTPD Server ?

After the installation Will the http document root for the users using domains be:

/home/username ?

Accessing Vmin Sites via FTP

Hello people, I MUST be missing something very simple here...AGAIN. Had exactly the same problem before - but took a re-install to fix as I recall.

ONLY data re this problem i could find.... QUOTE Home directory This field can be used to choose a custom home directory for a mailbox user. For example, you may want his home to be under the public_html directory, so that he can easily create web files. However, in most cases it should just be set the Automatic. ENDQUOTE

problem logging in FTP/Http Vmin users

Hi Joe and people, I did get some help on this before but cant search it out.... 8-)

I'm trying to set up users under VMIN to be able to login under FTP or even Http but despite ensuring that login details are ok, cannot get in MOSTLY. Two users I can get in, but they log into root area and I can't even find public_html for them, then. :-{

I recall it had something to do with initial setups but..... I thought VMin did supply FTP automatically with a new Vserver install?

Unable to access Help files

Hi Joe and people, I have access showing to the database, but on the main screen: Mail and FTP Users
In domain netcapitalisation.com, access is "NO". In permissions, access is allowed to the DB

AM trying to learn ropes :-) but get this:

Error Failed to read help file /usr/libexec/webmin/virtual-server/help/userdbs.html

Will go to Vmin docs here, but thought you should know.

Cheers,

Himagain

Vmin update to 3.40 on suse 10

hi @ all ,

i think, its time for me, to update, to the new virtualmin.. the last update produced a lot of errors and i needed to restart webmin and vmin by hand.... as a result of all the errors, i dont have any virtualmin updater , so i need to do it by hand a few questions .

  • is it possible, to just install the new version , without to lose current settings and v-servers ? ( made an backup with all settings and all servers already )

  • is it ok, to make a complete suse update ( incl. kernel ) before updating ( reinstalling ) virtualmin ?
