Help! (Home for newbies)

Hey everybody, I;m new user to virtualmin , i setup my domain etc. Everything seems to work perfect but every time i try to read my email using thunderbird i get "plain text authentication disabled " error message. Any idea on how to fix that ?

Hi all. When checking the configuration ("Re-check and refresh configuration" button) i get: The module could not find the mount point for your home directories filesystem /usr/home. Quotas editing has been disabled.

/usr/home is on / and there is no separate mount point. Quota is turned on for entire / filesystem. Is there any chance to get quota in virtualmin working?

Hi all, so far so good thanks heaps for all your help so far (esp, Joe and A H).

I was trying to place an index.html into /var/www/ but couldn't because.. it just wouldn't let me.

I did a sudo chown myUsername /var/www/ it let me place the index file in teh directory however when i go to http://localhost/ i get 403'd you don't have persmission to access / on this server.

Any help on how to fix this? ( chown root doesnt change anything either)

I was really hoping to be able to migrate one of my domains from my soon-to-be defunct server.

I already have a domain in virtualadmin pro called myserver.net and wanted to migrate myserver.info

First try, it complained about a group having the name "myserver" so I did a work-around and added a new group called my-server and moved the two users on myserver.net to it, then deleted the group myserver - so far so good.

And am having the same problem but really don't understand how to fix it.

Ok, fresh installation of Ubuntu on the server. Downloaded install.sh to the desktop (the 50 domain version)

I've been running virtualmin for some time, but is has disappeared. I rebooted server the other day, and after reboot, I can find no traces of virtualmin.

I'm not a Linux Guru by any means, but I can usually find my way around.

Does anyone know where I can begin to try to figure out what happened?

I'm working on migrating a number of websites I host from a WHM/CPanel environment to Webmin/Virtualmin. (In case anyone wants to know why, I'm planning on using Scalix as my email server.)

I had a working Virtualmin GPL group of domains, but upgraded to Pro to get additional (much better!) management capabilities. I have everything else working but now ProDTPD will not start; it was working prior to upgrade. Prior to upgrade, I used Qmail, but moved to Postfix to keep things simple....
