Help! (Home for newbies)

2 days ago I was able to log into the server using http://~domain_name~:10000 and Vmin worked fine. Today all I get is a server time-out. Tried many times with no result. As it is a while since I last ran a YUM update I did so and then restarted the server (update included a Kernel update) but still could not log into Vmin. The miniserver seems to be running: [[root@ns1 ~]]# ps aux |grep miniserv root 2854 0.0 9.8 105648 100592 ? Ss 19:54 0:00 /usr/bin/perl /usr/libexec/webmin/miniserv.pl /etc/webmin/miniserv.conf

Hi I'm trying to install Virtualmin on my VPS. Some time ago I had found a posting, that described what modules are not needed for virtualmin to work, so that it is also usable on servers with only 256 MB of RAM. But I cant find the posting now.

Maybe someone can tell me which modules I can leave out and how to do it. I have already made an installation, but I can wipe the server clean and start over.

Hi, if I understand correctly publishing with Blogger.com to my virtual server via SFTP is basically using the SSH service. Whilst I'm able to log on to for a secure file transfer form several programs without problem, Blogger.com fails.

The authentification log says: Did not receive identification string from 64.233.166.xxx

after i installed the update to 3.39 , my box is running but i cant get the webmin/virtualmin gui ...connection on port 10000 failed ( timeout ) ssh, mail and all websites are working.

is it possible, to just install virtualmin again , or do i need to uninstall it first ?

I have read a key component of security is to run only the services that you require. My server is running CentOS and has some interesting services running by default. Some I obviously need, but there are others i'm not sure about.

Ha there Joe, I seem to have fallen out of the system! Am having weird problems with accessing Vmin on my Server and came in to check on my account expiry. I don't exist! Am thinking that maybe this is the reason I can access via Webmin but not Vmin????

I can't recall how long I've had the account - never really got it to go yet, but it is a looong time! :-)

Is it possible to downgrade to MySQL 4 on a Fedora Core 6 box with Virtualmin Pro.

Space used by databases 60 kB (44 kB in this server, 16 kB in sub-servers)

Total disk space used 26 MB

If I'm not mistaking, I thought that 11 MB + 8192 bytes is not the same as 25MB?

How come it counts wrong?

i run an openvpn shop online, i sell packages to folks so they can securely get on the net. i have 3 fc4 servers running openvpn, shorewall and webmin (one of them now runs virtualmin pro).

I just want to know if the following is possible, perhaps a a link in the right direction. i just got the virtualmin pro, so trying to learn it and i am a newb on linux and webmin doesnt help since its so freakin easy!

i want to do this with virtualmin cause it seems like it might be easy to setup.

collectinfo.pl runs on 60% cpu. I see it quite a lot, is this normal? Should this run quite that often?
