Got a problem not covered by the docs? Don't know where to look in the docs or in the forums? All of the other forums over your head? If you're new to Virtualmin, this is the place for you.

Authentication issue with SMTP

I've setup a stock install of ubuntu 8.04 server and put virtualmin pro on it. I've since setup a single domain (goya.com.au), and I'm able to login via IMAP and read mail and copy it to and from the server.

However, any attempt to send mail via smtp fails. I've tried every combination of ssl and auth types as well as port numbers etc. I'm using the full email address "name@goya.com.au" as the username.

Proftpd User not login

----Translation software Occupied! !----

Please show me it who it is. I try server construction of webmin+virtualmin+usermin.

OS CentOS 5.2 webmin Ver1.470 usermin Ver1.400 virtualmin ver3.66.gpl

I was able to use a hoge.net domain in webimin first. Apache worked as I expected both ProFTP and postfix.

Therefore I decided to make next purpose, abc.net and dfg.net. I made each domain from Create Virtal Server of virtualmin. I made a user in Edit mail and FTP Uers next.

Lock FTP-user in folder

Hi,

I'm using Virtualmin 3.65 to host several websites. Everything's well, apart from one thing: I can't lock a user to a folder inside the server's public_html-folder. Virtualmin does make a home-folder for the new user, but this home is not located in /public_html/.

So what I'm looking for is a user with limited FTP-access. He shouldn't be able to go below /public_html/userhome.

Am I missing something, or is this not possible?

Thanks in advance!

PHPMailer, e-mails not saved in 'sent' directory

Can You tell me please how to send e-mails correctly using PHP and Postfix? I have default Virtualmin GPL install.

include_once('class.phpmailer.php'); $mail = new PHPMailer(); $mail->IsSMTP(); $mail->SMTPAuth = true; // enable SMTP authentication $mail->Host = "localhost"; // sets the SMTP server $mail->Port = 25; // set the SMTP port $mail->Username = "ads"; // username $mail->Password = "mypassword"; // password

Create Virtual Server - Change Home directory

New to Virtualmin, but so far like it better than Plesk and Cpanel, though the organization is a bit confusing (menu order and names).

I am setting up a new vhost to run Joomla 1.5.x - Joomla needs a username and password for configuration. The default setup uses Administration username as the Administration group name as well as the name for the Home directory.

My question is whether there is any security issue in having these all the same.

Also, I would like to change the Home directory to another name, but there is no explicit way to do this.

Server Side Filtering for basic users

G'day all,

I'm just setting up and testing my first virtualmin server and I'm really liking it.

One feature I'm really wanting is a basic, easy to use server side filtering option. I've previously used sieve for filtering on dovecot with the ui that comes via a plugin in squirrelmail. This worked well and is easy enough and has lots of options that a basic user can understand.
