Got a problem not covered by the docs? Don't know where to look in the docs or in the forums? All of the other forums over your head? If you're new to Virtualmin, this is the place for you.

DNS explanation required

Hi

I'm having trouble fully understanding how the DNS system works in general and with Virtualmin... in the past most of my sites have been hosted on shared hosting using cpanel or something similar. Iv not had to worry about setting up DNS all I had to do was add the domain on in cpanel and point my domain in godaddy to specified nameservers and it all worked fine and dandy!

Iv got a cheap VPS that's got Ubuntu 8.10 installed and updated and has two ip addresses. I basically got this VPS to play with a learn on before moving any live websites over to it.

Cannot setup to show quotas

I have webmin 1.480, usermin1.410, Virtualmin 3.69 set up and working on freebsd 6.3, except one thing:

Virtualmin doesn't show quotas correctly for domains. it shows that quotas are filled 0 bytes, even though in Edit Virtual Server -> Quotas and limits it shows: Home disk space used (including sub-servers) 0 bytes (40.26 MB by server administrator, 0 bytes by mail / FTP users)

I put all users in one group- webusers, - maybe that is the problem? When creating the group automaticaly, the quota shows correctly.

SSL cert work across multiple ports?

I suspect this is a newbie question, but here goes. What is the best practice for using a cert on a virtualmin server with one IP?

My server has one external IP to use with multiple virtual servers. If I want to get a SSL cert from a trusted authority, can I do the following:

  1. get a cert for the IP and a URL being server.domainname
  2. redirect webmail to point to the above URL:20000
  3. redirect admin to point to the above URL:10000

Questions:

  1. since the above are miniserv based, where would instal/configurel the cert?

Cannot configure Virtualmin

Hi,

I'm trying to configure virtualmin but I get stuck here and cannot work out how to fix this

The Suexec command on your system is configured to only run scripts under /opt/csw/apache2/share/htdocs, but the Virtualmin base directory is /home. CGI and PHP scripts run as domain owners will not be executed.
