Got a problem not covered by the docs? Don't know where to look in the docs or in the forums? All of the other forums over your head? If you're new to Virtualmin, this is the place for you.

Adding email users in bulk

Hi people,

I am expecting to get instructions in the next day or so to add about 250 email users to a VH. I need to be prepared for this because I will have to complete the task in a matter of a few days. In that time I will have to set up the new server, get the domain, test, etc. etc.

What I want to do :-

Firstly, I would like to add the users from a file.

Secondly, I would like to force a change of password the first time a user picks up email which might be by POP or webmail.

How to change virtual root from /home to /var/www/vhosts?

Hey all! I am working on migrating several domains and users from a dedicated server using Plesk to a less expensive solution. I have started trying out Webmin/Virtualmin as a replacement to plesk, and I have a few questions.

It would be way easier to migrate users websites and scripts over if I could keep them in the same directory structure.

In plesk the sites are in: /var/www/vhosts/domain.com/httpdocs/

In virtualmin it looks lilke: /home/username/public_html/

ionCube PHP Loader

I'm getting an error:

Site error: the file /home/purlsnet/public_html/scratch/index.php requires the ionCube PHP Loader ioncube_loader_lin_4.4.so to be installed by the site administrator.

I didn't see it under the install scripts. How do I load that on my site? I'm on Pro version and Centos 5

Idea for checking backups?

I've wrote little script which checks my backups are physically there (I now mean files) - I can extend it to nonzero files.

But - is there any method how to check backup integrity?

I've read that backuping is good (now I know it is really good for health ;o) but when poor administrator only sits and hopes "every backup I have is there and functional doesn't solve the problem with incomplete etc backups).

Does virtualmin/webmin have any way how to check backup integrity?

And two ideas for Joe and Jammie.

Scheduled backup disable backup of mailboxes.

Hello.

I've been using the Schedule Backups feature of virtualmin, and it works great. But I don't want to backup the users mail messages. It would be nice to backup mail configuration, but not the messages. I allow 10G of storage space to each user, and I use a remote FTP server to store the backup, so backup size is an issue.

So I 'd like to have a full backup containing the mail messages once a week, and daily backup of only website/database contents and configurations (not email messages). How can I do that?

Thanks

Rogerio

Where is ~/mail/virus ?

I have a user trying to send an email with an attachment to other users. But it doesn't get delivered and no bounce messages come back to her.

I'm wondering if it's getting tagged as a virus and deleted. So I reset the virus scanning to dump virus mail in ~/mail/virus instead of just deleting it. Then had her resend it, so I could check ~/mail/virus and see if that's where it's ending up.

Only problem, I don't know where to find ~/mail/virus. What is the whole path for that?

Thanks, Chris
