At last Iv managed to get everything working on my server!!!

But I have noticed that it is a little sluggish at times but all is working. I notice the sluggishness most when connecting to FTP. Its 3 or 4 seconds to responded with the welcome message and log me in. Logging into mail via the mail client is the same. And the website can be slow at times.

I'm only running 256mb of ram at the moment and generally 180 to 220 mb is used all the time. I can upgrade this to 384mb for next to nothing and to 512mb for a little more but not sure if that's the problem currently.

I'm getting this error when trying to import a database file in phpmyadmin

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 16777216 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 13937832 bytes) in /usr/share/phpmyadmin/libraries/unzip.lib.php on line 325.

I edited the php.ini file and increased the memory to 32M but still the same error message.

How to I solve this? I also don't understand how 13mb can exhaust 16mb of memory?

I'm assuming it will be in the mysql settings somewhere ?

I've seemingly installed virtualmin on my server but I can't log in to the post-installation panel through https://some.ip.he.re:10000 I simply get a timeout error for some reason or another. (I can access the standard http "welcoming" just fine though)

I cant login into postgresql from php scripts. I have no problem using postgres tieh the webmin module. I can even open a ssh session with user alcnoticias, password alcnoticias, and then I can login with psql -d alc_database, but I cant be validated when accesing psql with the same postgres database, user and password, if i have initiated the ssh session with other user than alcnoticias.

I cant also connect to the database from phpPgAdmin ("Authentication failed"), or from my own phpscripts using ADOdb ("Database connection failed").

I am using Virtualmin 3.69 gpl on Debian 5.0 Lenny.

Can anybody tell me where is located Webalizer Custom Config whenever I choose to use "Custom options" for "Report options" so I could manually edit that config file?.

Option is located in:

Webmin -> Webalizer Logfile Analysis -> Edit Log File -> "Report options"

I need to change the externally visible IP on my Virtualmin Pro box (the internal address is not changing). What is the best process for doing this, and will the changes migrate to all the virtual servers DNS settings etc.

I'm not seeing the option in Virtualmin -> Addresses and Networking.

Hi, some readers here will know that I am pretty inexperienced so I am very pleased to see a "Newbies" forum. Thanks for that.

Like many others I see brute force attacks on my server and so far, it seems that none have managed. Provided secure passwords are used and all other aspects of security are as they should be, I guess I should not be too worried. On the other hand I shouldn't be too complacent, particularly since I am a newbie.

I have seen in the logs (and via Logwatch) brute force attempts to gain access via SSH, POP3 and FTP.

My company (RJR Solutions) just upgraded to virtualmin Pro. They asked me to set up VM GPL on a different server to act as a secondary MX server. I followed the directions here: http://www.virtualmin.com/documentation/email/hold-and-forward

I logged into the secondary server, and did not see anything created in /var/mail

I performed the following test:

telnet xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx 25

Trying xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx...

Connected to xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx.

Everything seems to be working correctly on my VPS now apart from sending outgoing mail from thunderbird email client. I can receive mails but I cannot send them it just continually asks for the password.

Both sending and receiving is working fine from within usermin. It doesn't seem to be anything to do with TLS on the mail client side as I have tried it with all the settings. This problem has been mentioned before in the forums but Its not clear how it was resolved...so where do I begin with this?

Hi Guys, I'm having no luck creating some alias names for a Virtual Server. Here is what I have....

domain-name.com (parent) -intranet.domain-name.com (sub server)

The intranet.domain-name.com is displaying the correct www root.

But I would like the following domains to be aliases of intranet.domain-name.com. In other words, the following should show the website at intranet.domain-name.com.

intranet intranet.domainname.com
