Got a problem not covered by the docs? Don't know where to look in the docs or in the forums? All of the other forums over your head? If you're new to Virtualmin, this is the place for you.

DNS Imported from Plesk

I've imported my setup from plesk at one hosting provider to a different provider into virtualmin. Everything works great except for the difference in DNS. The plesk host had DNS inside bind, and I was using plesk to maintain the DNS records. With the new hosting provider, they have their own DNS and the interface is good enough for me to use that.

So I've switched off DNS in the features area and I even removed some of the DNS related webmin modules.

Extra Spam filtering options

I'm using virtualmin on ubuntu and so I've got postfix for mail with postgrey enabled. I'm looking to increase the spam filtering, although spam assassin and postgrey do catch a fair bit. I was looking to increase some of the restrictions on helo and receiving mail. Specifically to change smtpd_helo_restrictions to :

smtpd_helo_restrictions = permit_mynetworks, reject_non_fqdn_hostname, reject_invalid_hostname, permit

and change smtpd_recipient_restrictions to :

FTP Died

My backups quit working last night because FTPd died.

I can't restart it. I get the message

warning: `proftpd' uses 32-bit capabilities (legacy support in use)

I have not knowingly changed anything on the box, although it may have updated itself... hehe...

Has anyone seen this? Where might I look for more information?

Alias / Redirect

I would like to have http://.domain.com really map to http://domain.com/some_junk

My best guess is that this would go in the Alias and Redirects under Website Configuration, but I couldn't get it to work. Probably something wrong on my part. Am I in the right location for that change?

I could alternatively do it in Zoneedit, but I'd rather keep things serverside.

Thanks!

Virtualmin Support for Cobalt RAQ3

Since Virtualmin/Usermin/Webmin went perfectly with CentOS 5 and my old Compaq Evo computer, Id thought id bring up my old RAQ3.

When I first started coding PHP, I bought myself a RAQ 3 which was great at the time, now its just collecting dust as the OS and Control Panel is out of date. I looked around at the time and was advised that I couldn't install the latest PHP or control panels like WHM/cPanel..

My question is, would I be able to upgrade my Cobalt RAQ3 server to CentOS 5, PHP5 and run VirtualMin (making myself a nice little cluster).

Backups failing

This just started happening during the nightly full backup:

mysqldump: Got error: 1045: Access denied for user 'xxxxxx'@'localhost' (using password: YES) when trying to connect

(username was omitted, of course ;-)

The username that it is trying to log in as is not root! Where is the username the backup uses stored?

Usermin Read mail summary screen is too crowd

Hi all,

I'm fresh in virtualmin and anybody can help me to tune it about the read mail summary screen that shows on attached picture, that all the fields (from, data, size & subject) are compressed together. I think it caused by the subject line is too long. Can I fix all field length? If the field length is exceed the pre-defined long, it will be truncated. Is it build-in such function already?

Thanks!!

Where is "Create Alias Server" now ?

I have a spare box running version 3.29 GPL.

I also have a nice shiny new box running 3.69 Pro.

On the old server there is a button in edit VH which says "Create Alias Server". Unsurprisingly, this adds an alias to the VH. Easy. :-)

But I can't find the same facility in the new version. Am I living up to my name or is it hidden away somewhere ?

Thanks for reading.
