"1 package updates are available" CentOS

Forums:

Hi folks. I googled this but only found a Ubuntu fix, but not a CentOS fix.

I have been getting "1 package updates are available" but there no updates once I click. Even if I have 12 updates, and I do the updates, there's always the "1 packages" which isn't really there.

Maybe this has been discussed before, but I couldn't find the fix.

Thanks

Oops! I reset my phone and no longer have two factor authentication

Forums:

I reset my phone and completely forgot about the authenticator app. So now I don't have access to my Webmin anymore... but of course I still am the root user of the system. So how can I get access back to webmin? Surely there is just a configuration file somewere that needs to be modified...

unclear how to setup specific Cron

Forums:

hello

I need a Cron which must fire every day at 1:30 except Saturday and Sunday.

So at the section "When to execute" I choosen "Times and dates selected below".

Then for:

  • minute I choosen "Selected" and "30"
  • hours I choosen "Selected" and "1"
  • hours I choosen "All"
  • months I choosen "All"
  • weekdays I choosen "Selected" and all days except Saturday and Sunday

However it seem Cron still fire Saturday and Sunday.

I made something wrong ??

Webmin Access Unresponsive Even After Restart

Forums:

Attempts to access the control panel at https://our.hostmachine.org:10000

are failing.

I restarted webmin on the box via ssh: /etc/init.d/webmin restart

I got the prompt back with no errors reported and no status reported. I assume it restarted (but I don't know enough to investigate further. But if I run top, I see the occasional python process kicking off mailman... I believe this is Virtual min (not sure really as we don't use mailman at all)

Securing email server

Forums:

I have a Virtualmin installation on an Ubuntu server. I just checked the /var/log/syslog and it seems that it is spewing spam at an alarming rate.

I don't have much experience on Virtualmin on Ubuntu but on the systems that I have experience with if I saw this I would check to see if the SMTP server required authentication or not and if it did not I would set it to require authentication. Can someone tell me how to do this and what else I might want to look at?

Thanks in advance, Chris

SSH 6.4

Forums:

We are running VirtualMin/WebMin on CentOS Linux 6.4

Our PCI Compliance auditing company is flagging SSH 5.3 as a vulnerability and requesting that we update to 6.4

The RPM logs are not showing us any interim patches that we can identify that would apply to the CVE's which are pretty old:

CVE-2010-4478 CVE-2012-5000
