Filesystem Backup never finishes

Forums:

Hi can anyone please help. I have got a weekly full filesystem backup that runs and I can see writing to my backup drive. The problem is after a day or so of leaving it running my backup drive is no longer flashing but webmin still claims the backup is running.

The backup never completes and I'm never notified of a failure or a success.

I can't find any logs or how to find out what is going wrong. Any help would be really appreciated.

Thanks.

Postfix can support per-domain outgoing IP addresses - where do I change this?

Forums:

I get this message when I do a system check, but I can't find where to change it - using search doesn't bring up any matches?

"Postfix can support per-domain outgoing IP addresses, but is not currently configured to do so. This can be setup in the Postfix Mailserver module."

Please keep the Java File Manager

Please keep the Java File Manager!

Filemin vs. Java File Manager

Here are a few very important things missing in Filemin
- Folder tree (left frame) always visible for easy navigation and good view of folders.

- Ability to have several folders open at the same time in the folder tree view.

- Ability to open several files for editing, also from different folders and having them all up front and at the same time.

- Ability to search in edit mode.

- Ability to search an replace in edit mode.

- Ability to extract zip-files

Webmin postfix compromised, lots of spam through my mailserver

Forums:

Hi,

Yesterday I discovered thousands of mail being sent through the mailserver of one of mine VPS systems. So I did some digging and checked the logs, however, I did not see any authentication in the logs.

Then I did a test in my mailclient (Outlouk). What I discovered is that I could sent mails over my mailserver, without authentication! For receiving I need authentication, but not for sending.

Cron / feature for cleaning logs?

Forums:

Hi,

I often face the problem that my log files are getting incredable huge. So huge even that it eats up all my disk space and I get an error 'no space left on device'.

I now clean the logs manually every now and then by: - Deleting all log files ending with .gz - Emptying all other log files

I would like to automate this and I was thinking maybe virtualmin/webmin has a feature supporting this easily. I can of course create an sh file to do the removes and call it via cron, but I`m not very good with this so hopefully there is a more easy solution.

manually creating Custom Commands

Forums:

Ubuntu 14.04 .. local development.

My Custom Commands are located in file pairs in /etc/webmin/custom.

e.g. 1438509195.cmd 1438509195.html

If I wish to create a batch of these file pairs manually - instead of through webmin main GUI - what is the indexing system used to create the 10 digit file names?

Is there a file naming method in webmin I can call?
