Only name.domain@domain.com works

Hi

As an experiment, I have created a virtual domain: hobbs.id.au

I have created a mailbox for the account, which is supposed to be "christy@hobbs.id.au", however it doesn't work. What does work is "christy.hobbs@hobbs.id.au", but I don't need it. So something is stopping the mapping...

As a result of what I have set up through vitualmin, my mapping file (/etc/postfix/virtual) has the following in it.

BIND and Nameservers.

Hi.

I just got a box. And i was given the IP address to it. Now they offer upto 5 ips when you get a box from them. My questoin is this.

When i set up Nameservers i know i need two ns1.XXX.XX and ns2.XXX.XXX .... Can i get two IP addresses to point to the same box ? So that i can add those as Nameservers ? Or do i need another machine to do this for me ?

Secondly, how do you only setup nameservers in BIND ? Using Webmin ofcourse.

Thirdly, do i need reverse zones ? If yes why and how and for everything ? If no .. why not ?

Thanks :)

Virtualmin and name based hosting

Hi,

I am having a problem with virtualmin and my named based hosting.

I want to use name based virtual hosts and also set a specific ip address in my host file (DNS). virtualmin does not seem to allow this.

therefore everytime I setup a new domain virtualmin breaks my apache config file and I have to manualy edit it. As virtualmin sets it up for ip based hosting, ie. 192.xxx.xxx.xxx:80 instead of *:80.

is there a setting i have missed?

Thanks.

CGI script installation?

I'm new to Virtualmin and can't find anything on how to make script installation available to users or how to install cgi scripts. Or what script installers are already available. Is there documentation on this or documentation on writting custom script installers? I did read where Joe said this was a feature in Virtualmin Pro.

Thanks in advance!

Mike

Changing /home

I looked through alot of posts, maybe i missed if this was covered.

I use apache on an old system running RH9 and have several virtual web servers and webalizer. I have built another system running FC4 and Webmin/Virtualmin I set up a second hdd with /var becuase thats were all the servers are for apache on RH9 (/var/www/html)

my dilema is that Virtualmin wants everything under /home which is not a very big space on new system. i have tried changing the Virtualmin templates to create everything under /var/www/html then /public_html but it keeps puting them under /home

Apache on another Host?

Hi there. Just curious if it is at all possible to have virtualmin control the configuration of apache on a remote host (remote webmin host?)

im trying to use virtualmin but i would like something that has the potential to scale once i move to a load balanced cluster (web, mail, dns)

Since i configure DNS via MySQL database (using the powerdns virtualmin plugin) that issue is solved. Mail and web are next in line and so far web is the main concern.

Any input is greatly appreciated

Thanks! Dayton

Where's the documentation?

The link for the The Virtualmin Administrators Guide ( http://www.virtualmin.com/support/theguide/ ) gives me a "File not found.", same with the Quick Start link. So I haven't found any Virtualmin documentation other than the FAQs.

If this has been addressed before (like in "we're updating the docs") then disregard my message.

thanks

Why is my Virtual Server not working...

Hi there,

I run: - Red Hat Linux Fedora Core 4 - Apache 2.0.54 - Webmin 1.220 - Virtualmin 2.601

When I create a virtual server it seems to work fine. from another (windows) pc I enter the new domain-address (i've put it in the host-file too, so it will know the ip of the server) but the browser keeps ending at the default site, NOT the virtual server site.

Any ideas? How can I test what is going wrong?

Can anyone confirm that the combination that I use (see above) should work fine?

Thanx!
