Got a problem not covered by the docs? Don't know where to look in the docs or in the forums? All of the other forums over your head? If you're new to Virtualmin, this is the place for you.

Error with S3 backup

I'm getting a missing module error when I try to do an Amazon s3 backup - VM says that Perl module xml::simple is missing. Also I'm not 100% clear about what info needs to be input regarding the s3 bucket - I'm fine with the access id and access ket, but what goes in the text field immediately to the right of the Amazon s3 radio button?

Any help would be most appreciated,

Chris

Annoying Virtualmin display problem.

Please see http://bufflink.com/virtualserver.jpg

Can anyone tell me where on earth Virtualmin mines that address from?

I know it's not from the apache directive for the host, it's not from an interface, in fact it's no where on the box.

We are during a large scale IP renumbering, mostly manually, and it would be great if Virtualmin could recognize and display the correct IP address.

batch create users

Forums:

Hi,

We're using the GPL version of Virtualmin. I'm now at the point where I need to batch create a bunch of users as they exist on our old server. My challenge is that I have no idea what the user's passwords are; I do have the hash though.

So, essentially, I think I need to do this in steps:

1) use the "create-user.pl" script to create the user, password, full name, and quota, within the domain, obviously. 2) use webmin's batch user update function to modify user's password to be the same as the hash on the old machine.

Default DNS Templates live where?

Hey, I'm working with the GPL version and I have been searching everything I could find on the subject but no luck. I'm looking for the location of a template file/settings used for creating DNS records for the domains created with Virtualmin so I can change what the default MX priority is. Hopefuly someone could point me in the right direction.

Sizing/Capacity

Hi:

I've looked around the forums, but been unable to find anything yet - can somebody point me at information on system sizing guidelines (CPU/RAM) for how many virtual domains could be 'reasonably' supported (I know it depends on the websites themselves, but I'm just looking for general indicators).

Thanks!

Fedora Core 5 - New Install of Webmin

I have also posted this in the Webmin section.

This is a bit more involved.

Silly question? - Why is Webmin not firing up?

I am running a virtual server through a hosting company.

With the same company, I had FC2 and Webmin running fine.

I have now been upgraded to FC5, at my request.

They want me to install Webmin myself, as they have fallen out with it after security issues at the end of last year.

I am happy to have webmin on the server.

I have installed and all seems well, Webmin recognises FC5 when installing.

Command to run after making changes to server runs without variable

I've been trying to get the "Command to run after making changes to server" to run. It runs but doesn't seem to receive the variable provided in Virtualmin's Module Configuration. Documentation seems to indicate that the variable ${DOM} should work here.

The config line is: /usr/local/bin/postcreate ${DOM}

The script itself is a shell script. If I add the variable ${DOM} to the shell script the same issue happens.

The command runs correctly from command-shell when I substitute a domain for ${DOM}.
