How is my second name server accessed ?

Hello,

I have registered many domains at ipower.com and they use opensrs.net to manage the name server info.

I have been given two IP addesses by the company that I have my dedicated server with.

So in opensrs.net I set up:

ns1.mydom.com --> 67.45.213.42 ns2.mydom.com --> 67.45.213.47

I am running Webmin and VirtualMin to manage my server.

All my websites (about 20) are hooked up to just one IP address, the first one: 67.45.213.42.

Is this correct use of the "reseller" ?

I want to run two different hosting websites aimed to help different markets.

First I have registered a new domain and want to change the name of the system hostname to my-newdom.com.

Does anyone know where to do this ? ( I have spent over an hour checking every module in VirtualMin and Webmin !! )

Second I have already registered two doms for the two hoster websites and set them up as virtual servers on my dedicated server.

Is it best now to make these into resllers ? How should I do this ?

Thanks David.

Wrong sites showing up -- but very strange

After many fresh installations of Virtualmin GPL under - Debian 4.0 AND - CentOS 5 I find always this:

  • I'm using an external DNS.

  • I already have many domains pointing to this server.

  • After fresh installation of Virtualmin all of the above domains show just the default (empty, Error message) content.

  • After I create just one virtual server, ALL of the above domains now are showing the content of this single fresh created virtual server.

This behaviour is the same under Debian 4.0 and CentOS 5.

Problem in EC2/EBS, when I change DocumentRoot

Hey there!

I am enjoying VirtualMin! And it's my first time deploying a Linux machine (CentOS5), and what better way to do it than trying it out on Amazon's EC2! And it is fun! I have deployed and configured everything that is required for my machine to serve websites, and VM is also running great!

Now, my VM is working perfectly with default settings and I am able to successfully Create Virtual Server.

Getting error 550 from bounced email to my email

Hi all. I have a server setup running Virtualmin, and i created a mail account on the box. I can send email from the server, but I cannot recieve mail to the box.

IF I send an email to the account, I keep getting a error 550. Example, if I send a email from my gmail account to the email on my server, it bounces back with a 550. Any suggestions as to what I should check?

Please help: How to activate MySQL on Virtualmin?

Please help: How do I activate MySQL on Virtualmin GPL?

I already installed Virtualmin on two Debian 4.0 sytems without any error messages during installation. It seems the MySQL server is running. If I look at System Information / Status "MySQL Database Server" is running.

But if I create a new virtual server, I always get the error message "Database Error: Unable to connect to the database:The MySQL adapter "mysql" is not available".

As far as I understand in the Server template MySQL is activated.

Creating a "custom" FTP

Hallo again. I seem to create many new topics in this forum. Anyway, I have a question once again.

I need to create an FTP account with a home directory: /home/customers/blabla/xxx/yyy/ (this is not a usual directory of the ftp server htdocs which is: /home/customers/public_html )

I just need an FTP. No SSH, No email, no web access. Solely an FTP for editing some files on the server in the above given directory.

I have a Virtual Server "customers" if that is of any relevance.

How can I do that.

How can I use /srv/www/vhosts instead of /home/DOM

The title names it all: When I create a new virtual host I'd like to put everything into /srv/www/vhosts instead of the default place (/home/mydomain).

I've tried to use Server Templates, but there are so many options that all the files are put in the home-directory, no matter what I do.

The reason is, that I want to use several test-websites on my private PC without having one Linux-User per website.

Is there a possibility to use virtual hosts without creating a new user every single time?

Are there any templates or pre-defined configs

Are there any templates (or exports) of VM configs that can be used as a starting point? I realize many things have defaults, but I have some specific requirements and I'm not sure they are met by the defaults since I don't know what the defaults are.

It would be really nice to be able to go to a directory somewhere, look at a name or readme within a directory and find a common configuration that closely matches my needs. Then I could just make modifications rather than having to learn every corner of this product.
