Help! (Home for newbies)

I am switching service providers and so I will be getting a new static ip address for by machine.

I am a little concerned about switching things over so I was hoping for some insight as to making things less troublesome. I did not setup virtualmin myself so I did not do the intitial configurations.

A few things first.

• i do not use the firewall on linux rather I have everything setup through the router so I assume I will not have to worry about firewall settings

Before I came to Virtualmin, I managed my own Postfix main.cf. I've discovered that Webmin's default is to be an open relay. Yikes! So, I'd like to clamp this down.

This is the 3rd attempt to post this!

I'm getting "relay access denied" when sending to 'ezms@ez-ms.com' via an ISP and SMTP. The user exists and has a /home/ezms/Maildir directory.

Also, on the Edit Mailbox page in VM, it keeps putting 'ezms' in the Additional Mailboxes field. Then the Save doesn't like it so I take it out. But then next time I open the page, it's back again.

I thought I'd submitted a question on this before, but since I can't list topics I've authored, I can't seem to find it.

I'm sending from an external location. Things connect with postfix, but the message is rejected with "Relay access denied".

However, the account 'ezms' does in fact exist within the 'ez-ms.com' domain and the user is setup to have mail delivered to a local mailbox.

The directory /home/ezms/Maildir exists, but I have no idea what I'm looking for in postfix.

I have a new version of php that I built and need to know how to get virtualmin to use my version.

I run php -v and receive:

PHP 5.2.6 with Suhosin-Patch 0.9.6.2 (cli) (built: Nov 20 2008 16:39:28) Copyright (c) 1997-2008 The PHP Group Zend Engine v2.2.0, Copyright (c) 1998-2008 Zend Technologies

But phpinfo says my version is

PHP Version 5.2.0-8+etch13

and no mention of the Suhosin patch...

How do I do this?

We were recently compromised when someone managed to upload the c99Shell to our server.

Now this shell is capable of traversing up the directory and I can even read files in /root with it.

My question is, worst case scenario, someone STILL manages to upload a script like this.

What methods do I use to prevent them from ever leaving that servers directory structure or executing shell commands?

Would I set open_basedir?

This is urgent so all help is much appreciated!

How can I make the log files accessible from a sub-domain's public_html/${USER} directory?

I created a sub directory named 'logs'. In 'logs' directory (public_html/${USER}/logs) I created 2 sym-links to the error_log and the access_log and chown'd them to user:user with the -h option (so the links are changed rather than the files they point to).

However, when I try to access the logs from my application, the read fails.

Is there a trick? Or can the httpd.conf file be setup to allow the access via a <Directory> directive somehow?
