Help! (Home for newbies)

Hello,

What the best method to add a second hard disk for home directories? Just create for example a directory /home2 and symlink everything to that hard disk or there is a feature in virtualmin to help me with that?

I mean to symlink only public_html of each website I want to store in second hard disk. Is this going to work?

Hi all,

I'm trying to remove proftpd package that is installed by default on the CentOS virtualmin GPL EC2 setup.

Reason is I need to upgrade to 1.3.2 and the virtualmin repo is still running 1.3.0.

1.3.2 has security fixes as well as fixes for FTPS incompatibility with FileZilla.

Anyway so I'm planning to compile my own to remove my dependency on virtualmin to upgrade their package.

However when I try "yum remove proftpd" It also wants to remove virtualmin-base as apparently proftpd is a dependency.

hi, I have a little dilemma. I am using my ISP's SMTP server to send emails out, and i need to verify all the email addresses with them before hand and can only use smtp with those accounts, but if send email from unverified account to another address on the same domain and server, it does not get through, unless i verify it with ISP. I dont think this should happen as its not even going outside of LAN.

So in a nutshell what i wanna do is, I want to be able to send email within the domain without having to send it to the internet and then coming back to my server again.

Been trying all morning to get postfix to work. Keep getting this error the logs. Forums are no help. Seem to be a simple error but the solution is alluding me.

i installed virtualmin without getting any errors on a fresh etch. also the creating of the main virtual server made no probs, sending emails via usermin works too. but receiving mails doesn't work because the messages are stored in the queue of postfix and bounced after timeout. the messages in the queue are in the format user@fqdn and not user@sld.tld . what can i do to solve it?

I am getting this error when trying to setup a new virtual server. It seems to have started after manually upgrading to MySQL 5.1 and PHP 5.2

I'm having an issues with Postfix which it will send e-mail out to gmail.com and anything that has a .com, but it will not send e-mails to .net, .edu and so on. I'm using a client (Thunderbird) to send the e-mail, but when I login to Webmail and send it that way, I don't get any error back.

Hi, I bought an old Compaq server for use as an inhouse webserver in the company I work for so I can run php/sql programs, and thought VirtualMin would be the ideal way to set this up but I'm not having much luck. I'm currently in my flat trying to get everything running before moving the machine in to the racks.

I installed Centos 5.2 fresh with no GUI, just server stuff. Have run yum update to bring everything up to date ran install.sh and installation went smoothly

Is there a way to put restrictions on email accounts so that only selected accounts can send email to the outside world where others can only send on LAN or the same domain as them?
