Backup Anomalies

Hello,

I tried to set up a reciprocal scheduled backup between two machines.

I have two machines, ns1 and ns2. Both of them are set under virtualmin->Backup and Restore->Scheduled Backups to backup all servers and subservers and all "features and settings" to the reciprocal server. Both are set to email me on failure of the backup.

Interestingly, I noticed the following oddity:

Backup not doing incremental

Hi:-

About ten days ago, my backups stopped working correctly. I have them set up to do a full backup on Sundays and an incremental backup on other days. But now the incremental backup is doing a full backup each day. I think that this started happening when I deleted a subdomain, but I'm not sure. Can you please advise of what might be the issue? Thanks in advance for your help!

Simon.

Query on Usernames

One of the help sections says this

Format for usernames that include domain Whether the domain name is the full username, i.e. "virtualmin.com", or just the first part, i.e. "virtualmin", is dictated by the Domain name style in usernames option on the Module Config page.

However, there doesn't seem to be a usernames option on the Module Config page .... at least on the GPL Version.

Virtualmin GPL with PHP4 (and PHP5) using FastCGI

Hi there.

We are trying to get PHP4 to work as a FastCGI module. We have successfully installed php4 and FastCGI, and added the module to the directives for the site we need PHP4 to run on, but instead of loading the site we are just getting a blank white page. When running the same site on Apache with PHP4 module, the site loaded just fine.

from = to spam

I'm getting spam that is using my address as the from address. To me from me.

Spamassassin gives it a high score, but also says it's not spam

"Status: No, score=-89.6 required=5.0"

Which I am guessing is because the to address is mine.

I saw a post about doing something concerning whitelisting, but I don't have my address whitelisted (or is that done automatically?).

Is there a way for me to use the "spamassassin/header - body tests" to add points if the to and from match? if so, how?

Or is there another way to handle this?

Please help explain VMin Apache stuff

I am confused about a few issues;

I have VMin GPL on Centos 5.3

1) The document root in /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf as shown by Webmin >> Servers >> Apache Webserver is /var/www/html but in Vmin >> Server Templates >> Apache Website is ${HOME}/public_html which I'll think is /home/domain/public_html. Do I need to change one of the other make them the same?

2) When I create a virtual server, the domain is served ok but even though I have created /etc/skel/public_html/index.html, there is no default page. Any clues?

squirrelmail globally under subdomain of each site

Hello, For a few days I have been trying webmin and virtualmin. It works like a breeze. I installed squirrelmail and it went ok. At the moment I am trying to find a way to install globally under a subdomain like http://webmail.mydomain.com - that is whenever I create a web site I want a webmail sobdoamin like above to be created for new site. I tried to add lines below to "Directives and settings for new websites"

Upgrading CentOS

AS we know CentoOS is just a kind of Mirror of Red Hat... that about as much as I understand about it. One of my team also runs his own server at home and writes:

"i run PUP (package updater) about once a month on my centOS box. (google calendar reminder). Today there were 189 updates available. PUP will download them all, resolve all dependencies, and install them all, automatically, one click."

My question is: can VirtualMin or WebMin run updates to the OS that it lives on top of? In this case PUP? If so, how and from what menu or panel?

Pro version at home

I'm currently setting up a server at home for development and backup. just installed centos 5.3 so need to setup fqdn on it (and setup dns behind my router)

I'm wanting to buy a Pro version so its the same as my live server. is there a problem using IP of 192.168.1.50 (say) as the IP address ?

thanks Brian

broke webmin

Hi, I was trying to an NTP Server and seemed to do that OK.

tried changing the timezone from EuropeGuernsey to Europe/London and got an error: Failed to save timezone: Webmin Server did not write new PID to file.

tried stopping and starting from /etc/rc.d/init.d/webmin

but still no access to webmin.
I guess the process has died and I need to get it restarted, any ideas ?

thanks
