Help! (Home for newbies)

Hello everbody,

I have quite a problem creating a virtual server on Debian Etch 64bit (4.0).

It's a totally fresh installed dedicated server using Webmin 1.470 and Virtualmin 3.68.gpl GPL.

Now when I try to create a virtual server I get following error message.

[code:1]Failed to create virtual server : setquota: Not all specified mountpoints are using quota.[/code:1]

Hi all, I would really like to replace our current voice mail system (Communicate Pro running on a Windows XP system) with a linux based system.

Obviously, the voicemail system as managed by webmin would be a nice start. There doesn't seem to be much out there... other than vocp, and it doesn't seem like that's been updated since 2003 or so.

I took my best shot at it.

I installed every getty file that appears when you run yum list |grep getty

then, I refreshed the system modules in webmin.

Hi all, I need to set Virtualmin to add the mail attribute to an LDAp user when creating said user in Virtualmin.

I use joomla for a website, with LDAP auth, and it won't work if the mail attribute isn't set, and I don't want to have to do it manually, so can anyone help?

Also, is there any way to modify the templates to change premissions on a sub-domains folder, to prevent the Apache 403 errors I'm getting. say I have forum.example.com, I have to go chmod a+x forum.example.com, and public_html inside that folder before Apache will let me see webpages for that domain :(

heya.. im having a bit of a problem with apache lately.. it seems to shut down by itself every now and again.. when i try to restart it it gives me an error message that the port (80) is already in use.. looking through the apache error log file i found the following line:

[Sun May 10 06:25:25 2009] [notice] caught SIGTERM, shutting down

i google for that error message and found that this is most likely caused by some problematic cron file.. the problem is i didnt setup a cron script that periodically restarts the server itself or just apache..

I am using RoR and Virtualmin Pro. I used the install scripts for ruby, if I load int the top level something kinda works. But into a sub-directory it doesnt.

The reason I say kinda, is when I goto the site I get the

I'm moving email users from my old ensim server to a new CentOS with Virtualmin as the cp.

On my old box, usernames were like 'randy'. I'm not sure if it's set up this way by Virtualmin or CentOS, but the new server has usernames like 'randy.domainname'.

Is it possible to continue using usernames without the '.domainname' suffix? A setting in virtualmin anywhere? Or should I just tell my users to change the username settings in their desktop mail program?

I'm a brand new user of webmin and virtualmin, as of yesterday. I'm also new to linux admnistration. The project I'm working on is a Drupal multisite and we have moved to a new host because our last host was resistant to using anything but cpanel/whm and we needed the greater capabilities of webmin and virtualmin. We're running on debian.

I'm using Virtualmin GPL @ Ubuntu Server 8.04.2 LTS since last two days, and I've got a few questions.

i've just installed virtualmin gpl on ubuntu 8.04 using script install.sh. Everything seem fine, i create email account but when i try to setup my email client, i get this message: "you cannont log in to mail.mytalke.com because the server has disabled login. you may nedd to connect via SSL or TLS. etc..." what have i to do? thanks

I found out that many has problems gettin default website to work when using virtualmin.

I found that the default website is workin for 127.0.0.1 but not for any other IP adress that you have to the box... is there anybody that has found out how to make this work?
