What do I Need to Install Virtualmin?

Hi

I am new to Web/Virtualmin and although I've searched this site for hours on end I still have some really basic questions that need answering...

I'm sure this question has been answered a million times - but I just want to be clear! I'm sorry for being such a newb!

I have a totally clean box with Deb 5 on it - nothing else. As I don't know what virtualmin is like I am going to try the GPL version to see how I get on.

This is where my questions start...:

Bandwidth Monitor shows virtual host over its bandwidth limit... still enabled...

It seams that virtual min is not automatically disabling and enabiling hosts when they reach and drop below their bandwidth limits.

It says in the control panel they are over the limit but they are still enabled.. any help?

N.B. Yes the option "Disable if over limit bandwidth?" for the virtual host has "Yes" selected.

Thanks.

Virtualmin GPL / Webmin... Both?

Looking for some feedback on Virtualmin / Webmin as Control Panel. I currently have a VPS with cPanel / WHM however I am moving to a dedicated and don't think I'll be using it on the new server. I don't really plan on reselling other than offering hosting to friend and family so I don't feel the need for cPanel in all it's glory.

However with Webmin and/or Virtualmin GPL, am I able to recompile the server build for hardening the server?

IE: putting on suEXEC etc.?

I know with cPanel I can do this with WHM, but does Webmin and/or Virtualmin GPL allow this?

Issues sending mail from a PHP form

Not sure if anybody can help me with this - I have created a PHP form that appears to send mail ok, but mail is not being recieved in Thunderbird - the same form works ok on a shared hosting platform, but not on a VPS with Debian 5, and Virtualmin GPL.

The logs, at, When submitting the form, in /var/log/procmail.log show the following:

System Time - No Tabs

My System Time in Webmin no longer shows anything under the tabs "Change Time Zone" or "Time Server Sync". Used to be just fine. "Set Time" tab still shows up but there is now an error that appears:

hwclock failed :

hwclock --debug shows:

[root@ns1 ~]# hwclock --debug hwclock from util-linux-2.13-pre7 hwclock: Open of /dev/rtc failed, errno=19: No such device. No usable clock interface found. Cannot access the Hardware Clock via any known method.

What cold have changed? Where do I look?

Thanks

Passive FTP not working, even with firewall off

Hello all.

I'm trying to make ProFTPD Server work in passive mode. I've read several FTP posts, and did tried everythind I could find, no success.

My last test was to disable the firewall "service iptables stop". It still doesn't work!

I don't have any other firewall/nat active.

What do I have to double check on ProFTPD configuration? Where else can I look?

Thank you

Rogerio
