Slave sync (cluster) not working

Forums:

I tried everything related that I've found on these forums but worked. All my servers sending their zones to slave with 0 records inside them.

I have 3 servers having each one their bind (all running Debian) and another one acting as slave. I did exactly what the docs saying at http://www.virtualmin.com/documentation/dns/slave-configuration

What I want is server A,B,C to send their zones on server D(the slave). The slave (D) server logs showing:

Security Update cache eating up all my disk space

Forums:

Hi all,

I have Virtualmin installed on my server running Ubuntu 10.04. I am having an issue with the cache files in the directory /etc/webmin/security-updates eating up all the disk space on the server. More and more files appear in this folder until the server crashes and I have to go in and manually delete them all.

Is there any way to periodically delete these files automatically?

FYI the files look like this "available.cache1.webmintmp.9914" where the number at the end just keeps counting up.

Thanks for your help!

Francis

Upgrade PostGreSQL from 8.1 to 9.0

Forums:

I had the data center linux experts upgrade PostGreSQL on our box from 8.1 (very old!) to 9.0 In particular I really needed the new ENUM data type.

But now I'm facing issues restoring the databases. First the data team forgot to restore pg_hba.conf... after I did that at least WebMin was able to log in to the psql server.

But now when I go to restore data bases from the command line

%psql -d postgres -f /home/dbase-backups/hap_users.sql

I am first hit with "role 'himalayan' does not exist

so I go to Web min and add a user 'himalayan"

installing VM from within WEBMIN ...

Forums:

Hi Folks,

Well, I finally got used to using VIRTUALMIN, after years of web-hosting wtih CPanel etc. I went out and purchased a virtual server package with WEBMIN installed, assuming that VM was part of webmin.

  • uh, not quite * ... !

can anyone coach me a bit on how I could install VM from within the WEBMIN interface? I don't have a lot of server-side smarts, please be gentle!!

Thanks,

Gary

Managing MySQL User Logins

Forums:

I find myself to more and more contracting to developers where I need to let them into a single site and have access to a single MySQL database. I have very little experience with MySQL ACL management. OK I created this site:

dev.hinduismtoday.com for a 3rd party developer to do his work in.. for example purposes:

admin user: mango password: smoothie

OK. now: I get a new MySQL User "Mango" with permissions "None"... to access no databases at all since we did not set one up for the new site.

Error - Perl execution failed / System and Server Status

Forums:

I recently noticed I have a Perl error within System and Server Status module.

HTTP/1.0 500 Perl execution failed Server: MiniServ/1.530 Date: Tue, 28 Dec 2010 14:48:58 GMT Content-type: text/html Connection: close Error - Perl execution failed

Bad arg length for Socket::pack_sockaddr_in, length is 14, should be 4 at ping-monitor.pl line 121.

Any advice would be appreciated - thanks, Brian

Can't locate object method "cgi" via package "Bugzilla" at Bugzilla/Install/Util.pm line 331.

Forums:

Under "Actions upon server and user creation" I have written a script

if [ -e $VIRTUALSERVER_HOME/post_create.sh ]; then sh $VIRTUALSERVER_HOME/post_create.sh; rm $VIRTUALSERVER_HOME/post_create.sh; fi

I tired to run the bugzilla checksetup.pl from the post_create.sh file above, however i keep getting the error:
