I have recently purchased a VPS and am trying out Webmin/Virtualmin as a hosting platform. So far I am quite pleased with what I see. I looked at ispCP but got fed up. I currently have four nameservers setup using a redundant dns service provided by my vps provider. These nameservers are ns1.domain.com, ns2.domain.com, ns3.domain.com, ns4.domain.com (my domain). My vps is at host.domain.com

I have an old MySQL update stuck in the package updates part of Webmin/Virtualmin.

mysql MySQL client programs and shared libraries 5.0.77-4.el5_6.6

I have a newer version of MySQL that was installed from the Atomic repo. The above update fails because the newer version is present.

I have excluded this update from yum so it does not try to update from the command line any more but it will not disappear from Webmin.

Is there anything I can do to get rid of it?

I have installed central phpmyadmin interface for all users under subdomain of my site. Now, I would like to provide a direct link to it for my webmins users. Is it possible to add custom links to Webmin's interface?

Fresh install with vmin 3.87 on centos 5.6. I tried to add the samba module from webmin>system>software packages. It fails saying it needs webmin 1.560 to install it. System info says all packages are up to date? So I'm stuck there.

Can or should I use yum from command line to install samba with swat? I understand that I should stick to one or the other for system stability.

When is it ok to use centos repos vs virtualmin repos? Are they synced by you folks?

Is there a doc on setting up yum repo priorities...virtmin with centos?

In Webmin> Hardware> System Time> on the Time server sync tab is a filed “Timeserver hostnames or addresses” Can some one please tel me what goes in there. I have tried many different thing and always get errors like below.

Hello,

I'm trying to setup a filesystem backup in webmin to an FTP server. I am provided this FTP server via my dedicated server provider and the username is my hostname of the server...so is in this format jk678564.provider.com

Webmin doesn't seem to like the 'dots' in the username...is there a way round this? My provider doesn't give you the option to change your username, its default set at your domain name.

Did someone forget to use "use strict;" in testing?

After the latest aupdates I get a error when I click "Blocked Hosts and Users" in Webmin and Usermin. It give me this error:

HTTP/1.0 500 Perl execution failed Server: MiniServ/1.556 Date: Sun, 24 Jul 2011 17:32:27 GMT Content-type: text/html Connection: close

Error - Perl execution failed Can't use an undefined value as a symbol reference at ./webmin-lib.pl line 1763.

Should I report this as a bug???

The box is running: CentOS Linux 5.6 Virtualmin version 3.87 Pro Webmin version 1.556

I create an ftp account. I manage to connect but I can not create directory. I get the message: Permission denied ". How to configure ftp server in Virtualmin order to create a directory.

I have now built two Virtualmin Pro servers where at some point the FTP stops working. It just times out on the connection. Any suggestions how to fix this issue or why it should happen in the first place? The server is pretty new and features 12GB of DDR3 and a solid-state drive. It is strong but now the FTP on all accounts does not work.
