MariaDB or MySQL

Forums:

Hi everyone,

We have just bought a new dedicated server running latest CentOS 7. On our old servers we always have used MySQL, but CentOS 7 comes with MariaDB.

We heard that people have problems with MariaDB, have you have problems with MariaDB?

Is it possible to replace MariaDB with MySQL in Virtualmin Pro, and if so, am I in risk of running in to trouble with updates and so later on?

MySQL Database Server

Forums:

Hello,

I am not able to access mySQL database anymore. I am getting the "The full MySQL error message was : DBI connect failed : Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: YES)". This is all for a website that I made for a school project. I went to the config and tried changing the password but it is still not letting me in!

What should I do?

Thanks, hunter

Remote Database Setup

Forums:

Hey Guys,

I'm relatively new and I've hit an issue.

I want to setup my Webmin to use another Server for my Database. I have found this official document ( https://www.virtualmin.com/documentation/id,running_mysql_on_a_remote_sy... ) but when I access: "Webmin → Servers → MySQL Database Server" I dont have any button called "Module Config", to configure the "System Configuration" and enter the information of the Database Server.

[Solved] Let's Encrypt, Webmin, Apache Webserver

Forums:

Hi got a quick one:

I have a server, just running webmin, not virtual min, which as a domain attached and a setup, where i serve just one webapplication. I used to use start.com certificates, but that ones won't be accepted by firefox anymore. So i would have to create a new one, and thought, i should try to use letsencrypt. In Webmin i created the according cert, no prob at all, but now i am stuck. Unfortunately webmin creates just three pem files, lying around in /etc/webmin, and i tried to use them, but no avail. Also i do not have an option, of copying the cert into apache2.

Bind fails to start due to GeoIP

Forums:

We have a pretty standard Webmin running on Centos 7. I haven't checked when it began as we don't really use the BIND server (for now), but it can't start at the moment due to a weird GeoIP error - this error comes up in Webmin as well when trying to config BIND - it throws it from named --help as well.

named: symbol lookup error: named: undefined symbol: GeoIP_cleanup

We're not even using GeoIP in named - there's no references to it in the named.conf file.

I haven't been able to find anything about this anywhere. How do I debug this?

ip6tables

Forums:

Operating system: CentOS Linux 6.8

When I set up ip6tables (on Webmin): Webmin > Networking > Linux IPv6 Firewall

and I select the 5th option i.e. "Block all except SSH, IDENT, ping and high ports on interface: eth0," connecting to the server via SSH is failing over ipv6.

However, if I select the 4th option, or "Block all except SSH and IDENT on external interface: eth0," connecting to the server via SSH is successful over ipv6.

Why does the 5th option fail?

"TERM environment variable not set"

Forums:

Hello,

Context: Webmin/Virtualmin (latest stable and official) with the Authentic theme. In the bottom-left of the left column, there is a series of clickable icons, first sysinfo, second >_ to open a shell as root.

If I open this shell icon, I very quickly run into this error: TERM environment variable not set

All I wanted was to run top without having to open my putty client on my PC.

I was puzzled, googled around, to no avail. For instance:

# echo $term

#

Oookay, blank line.
