Webmin

Hello,

After updating to latest version of webmin (1.830) it became impossible to log in to webmin; after entering the username/password it says "Error" in page title, and only displays a gray screen. This issue happened on multiple, unrelated, centos 7.3 systems (centos 6.8 remained functional). I've tried restarting the webmin service, and even rebooting, with no success. It's not browser related, as it does the same with multiple browsers.

It seems that Fail2Ban apache-auth jail monitors %(apache_error_log)s, but apache auth failure, a 403, is logged to the access log.

How do I set Fail2Ban to ban IPs with multiple 403s?

Hello,

I noticed that my schedule backups aren't running...then i found that webmin deamon shutsdown itself...maybe thats because backups not running automaticaly...

I must always start webmin deamon from command line, but it shuts again in minutes or hours.

Any help please ?

I have an Ubuntu Linux 16.04 LTS server with Webmin 1.820 and Authentic Theme 18.10. There is an upgrade for the theme to version 18.31. When I click the update button, it reloads the Webmin dashboard and does not update the theme. I have gone into the Options and cleared the cache and attempted to force an update, but it didn't work. How can I figure out what is preventing me from updating?

In my mail log am getting lots of messages as below, every few minutes or so.

prefork: server reached --max-children setting

I raised the max children setting from the default of 5 to 200 and still happening.

Is this an issue worth bothering about much as I do not want to just keep increasing the setting and of course eventually it would have an impact on the whole servers RAM etc.

Currently the available RAM is not an issue as only around 30% is being used as I have 32GB RAM on a fast server Intel Xeon CPU E5-2620 v3 @ 2.40GHz, 24 cores

I'm finding that the files in /etc/webmin/system-status/history are changing regularly (something like every 5 minutes). This causes havoc with my backup software, that monitors /etc and backs up files in it as they change.

/etc seems like a very strange storage location for this kind of file.

Is there any chance it could be moved somewhere like /var?

This is a Debian install, running packages from the webmin repository.

Reading the article about using Virtualmin with Nginx, it says: only change to Nginx when no websites have been added to the server yet'.

I have a webserver with like 5 sites on it and it is totally not peak resistent. It can handle like maybe 30 concurent visitors, which is not enough. So I did a test on a new server with Nginx, and it performs way, way better.

I'd rather not go through all the trouble moving those Magento stores to a new (Nginx) server.

So the question is: is there a way to safely switch from Apache to Nginx on an existing environment?

I have the next problem, i have two server Webmin Master/Slave (v 1.810) in cluster, when i create zone in Master example.. test also this appears in Slave, nice, but when select zone test in Slave show me the next message : Last transferred : Never -- and can't see register, server alias, nothing..
