hi @ all,

i see a very strange behavior of my box for the last few days... every time i create a new virtual- or sub server, all existing servers point to the new one .... if i delete the new created server, everything is ok again. if i have a look at the virtualhost list, everything seems to be ok..... and another thing is , if i use subservers like : cms.mydomain.ch i get allways redirected to www.cms.mydomain.ch.

I installed a Virtualmin on a clean Debian box, then went to Webmin and selected a different theme (cant remember which one it was anymore), but it was one that came defualt with Virtualmin. Afterwords, I got this perl error and cant access my Virtualmin/Webmin anymore.

Tried restarting webmin, but no avail.

How can I enable Aliases for sub-servers. I have "Can manage aliases" enabled in the server template.

As the server administrator I can create aliases only for the virtual server, but i am unable to create aliases for sub-servers.

When I view the list of virtual servers, as the root administrator, I see that Aliases for sub-servers are disabled, and I am only able to create an alias for a sub-server as the root administrator.

It is possible to use wildcards in "Database access control list" in the Usermin Module Configuration for MySQL Database.

The default in this option is: *: *

But can I use wildcards like this: user1: user1_* user2: user2_*

I always use the username and the underscore in front of the database name, like this: user_dbname. If I can use the wildcard like this then I only have to add one line for all the users databases.

Is it possible to use variables like ${USER} or ${PREFIX}?

I have trouble getting SMTP to work using SASL authentication. I read all kinds of threads related to this problem but still can not solve it, it seems.

The Problem:

Hi Joe & folks, Am trying to "simply" setup access to a sub domain for a quick project involving exchanging lots of fairly large files. I tried to set up a sub-server as xxxsub.fablor.net with private FTP access and while I could do so, it gives the user access to the main server as well. I thought by specifying a directory that would do... :-{

(I've read the new PHP Architecture, http://www.virtualmin.com/component/option,com_openwiki/Itemid,48/id,php...) and I hate to be a Luddite but can I setup Virtualmin to use one copy of PHP5 as mod_php and remove PHP4 for my Debian install?

I am running this box without any need to customize php per domain and I have reason to believe running php as a fcgi script causes Apache to crash every couple of hours. (At least in my environment)

ok now that I seem to have fixed most of my DNS problems I just discovered that my Apache 2 installation seems to serve only the default HTDOCS directory?

Currently I have only one virtual domain installed wich I can SHH/FTP without any problem. I checked the forum already for an answer but no luck. Can anybody help me bugfixing this?

Hello, On a fresh Debian 4 install on an AMD64 server with RAID 1 (two disks), ReiserFS partitions, i used the install.sh script from the online shop. At the end, everything was fine (amazing and easy). But when i changed the search domain and click on the apply button in the "Network Configuration" tab of Webmin, the server went down (webmin, ssh, ping, ...). The hosting support checked the OS and report that the gateway was not set and there were some little errors in BIND conf (no more details). They fix those problems.
