Help! (Home for newbies)

Got a problem not covered by the docs? Don't know where to look in the docs or in the forums? All of the other forums over your head? If you're new to Virtualmin, this is the place for you.

The install process ?

I've used Webmin before, and I know that requires that all other bits and peices are installed before hand, such as Postfix, etc.

I have my cursor hanging over the "Buy" button for Virtualmin, but before I do, being new to Linux, am I right in saying that the Virtualmin install process installs all required components automatically or do they need to be installed manually?

Thanks for your help!

Liam.

Mysql in Big permission problem

i dont no how this happened but i can not access my mysql database with root, there fore cannot add edit or delete accounts. It appears that the permissions for the user root have gone wrong, and it is not alowed to access the "mysql" table where all of the permissions are kept, so as you can see an endless circle? what do you think the best option would be? to reinstall mysql? any help is very much appreciated

Text browser for accessing virtualmin & webmin

Hi dragons,

does anybody know browser which can access virtualmin in text mode? I mean text browser. I've tried elinks and lynx links etc. - but with no success. Maybe I have to configure something more than default.

Elinks supports frames but maybe there will be a problem with javascript.

It would be very userful if anyone can point me to template for example or if Joe will say, that it is impossible I will accept it as done think.

Thanks.

Problem with htaccess

I am having a problem with htacces files. My sites do not seem to read them properly.

I am trying to use simple directives just to test things but does not work: php_flag display_errors on php_flag file_uploads of

One of my sites has mod_rewrite directives in htaccess and these seem to work but the above flags do not. Same with creating a new site...directives do not work.

Here is a sample of one of my configs:

dns is using wrong IP

On my server, I'm using virtualmin, and the server is hooked up to my router, so it has it's own private IP. virtualmin is using this ip instead of the public IP, which I know it can see, since it shows it on the dynamic domain updating. I need the DNS server tu use this (dynamic) external IP instead of the private ip, which is is currently using. How would I do this?

Inherit from /etc/php.ini

Each user seems to have their own php.ini. It appears that the system /etc/php.ini is ignored. Is this right?

I've added eaccelerator, ioncube, and zend optimizer to my server. I've also updated the php include_path in the /etc/php.ini to reference the directory into which I'm providing extra php classes that my customers can use. It would be nice if I didn't have to update each user's php.ini files when I make an /etc/php.ini change.
