Help! (Home for newbies)

Hi all!

I'm using virtualmin and I have apache mod_security installed, but after I made a few tests I realize that it was not working because it was not blocking URL's queries that it should block.

How can I force mod_rewrite to work on all servers and sub-servers?

Please, as you may guess, I have some urgency getting this to work, please help!

I see others have had the problem of Posfix sending outbound email due to port 25 being blocked by their ISP (as in my case).

My Virtualmin server is located on a network with a firewall in the router.

Currently I am able to connect to posfix from a remote IP, i.e.

telnet mail.example-domain.com 26 Trying xx.xxx.xxx.xxx... Connected to mail.example-domain.com (xx.xxx.xxx.xxx). Escape character is '^]'. 220 amazing.billyfire.net ESMTP Postfix

I am also able to send e-mail from Thunderbird and it ends up in a queue on the server.

Hi there when i create a subserver the paths dont seem to add up im using virtualmin with ubuntu 8.04 i have 4 domains on there everything works great.

I added a sub server to a main server in this instance we shall call the domain mydomain.com i create a new subserver and called it subserver.mydomain.com

everything is fine i can see the site both local and non local however the paths dont seem to match when editing the sub server it reports that the home directory is

/home/mydomain/domains/subserver.mydomain.com

On my previous server and on some other hosts, I was able to write to files (for example with PHP) without having to chmod the files first.

Now I cannot, and files are required to be chmoded properly so I can write to them.

I cannot even touch() a file with PHP.

Is there any way to have this permissions removed?

I don't want to chmod the all thing, all I want is to change the configurations so I can fwrite() or file_put_contents() normally.

I's a dedicated un-managed server, so basically any advanced configurations can be done.

I'm in the process of moving from one server to another. The original server isn't going to be cancelled until 29/1/09 but in order to be legal I've stopped apache, webmin, usermin (using /etc/init.d scripts) however on the new server I get a license warning saying it's running on 3 servers. It is installed on 2, but, only whilst I migrate. How can I fully stop it running on the old server (may need to start to migrate settings but will not leave running) and why does it think it's on 3 servers when it's only ever been on 2?

Still working on getting my Virtualmin 3.64 gpl on Debian etch up and running. Today's challenge is the MySQL database. MySQL is running on the server as I can attach to it from phpmyadmin and the virtualmin control panel. I imported a database and everything seems ok, but my software cannot see the database. (Drupal and CPG Dragonfly) When etch was installed only the bare minimum of software was included. Apache, MySQL, PHP, etc were all installed by the Virtualmin installer.

I have a problem to create sub-domain and new virtual host by my Virtualmin. when I want to create subdomian show me this:

Failed to create virtual server : The IP address is already used by virtual server mydomain.com

I've check the config my virtual host and I found this : IP address 72.x.x.26 (Private to this server)

and when I want that IP be shared from Networking section show me this:

Failed to save shared IP addresses : '72.x.x.26' is a private IP address for virtual server mydomain.com

Following in accordance with the documentation I configured my server to use OpenLDAP. My main goal was that in each domain to create any user name. Take as an example user Tom. I want that e-mail adress tom@example.com and tom@test.com could belong to different people, but when I configure my server, all users was creating in test.com tree.

Hello I have some experience with Virtualmin, but I had a small break in use. I installed Ubuntu 8.04, updated packages to the latest version, and run the configuration script. The installation went well, start checking the script - all ok. I've created a new domain and started to test the mail. I send a message from the newly created account, Virtualmin writes a message "sent", but when I'm checking there is now new messages. In the other side also does not work. I checked the rule in the firewall - added exceptions, the status information report all services running properly.
