Got a problem not covered by the docs? Don't know where to look in the docs or in the forums? All of the other forums over your head? If you're new to Virtualmin, this is the place for you.

webmin doesn't install modules

on CentOS

Failed to install module from : File does not exist

I get this no matter if I choose to install

  • From ftp or http URL AND
  • Standard module from www.webmin.com AND
  • From local file

I am trying to install WUFTPD or PROFTPD

I am inclined to use WUFTPD because of the Guest Access feature but maybe I can limit an FTP user to access only his directory (excluding him from system dirs.

Two vhosts with one directory

Hello,

I'm currently trying Virtual instead of webmin only.

Currently I have a situation that don't seems to work at all. I want to run a multistore magento. So I can't use redirects.

Two hostnames, two SSL, one public_html.

When I set up two vhosts, I get two public_html dirs with different users. So I can't create a link because of the wrong user.

When I set up a subserver it's got the wrong public_html.

Anything I can do?

Thanks

Stefan

Reporting facilities in Cloudmin

Hello

I haven't been able to find any reporting facilities in Cloudmin. My initial purpose for searching for this is to be able to get a report over the waiting package patches for the different managed systems. I would like to review the patches before I deploy them on out test/dev systems.

Is it possible to have a report for one or all systems emailed after patching?

Regards

just did a backup and can't restore

I'm using virtualmin GPL 4.17. In order to delete a server I did a backup of all servers then checked what would be restored, thinking that if I had a good current backup I could restore as necessary. The message I got is, "Restore failed : The specified source is not a Virtualmin backup : Server bvairpi.ca appears twice in backup directory"

I find this disturbing. I've been using the backup facility thinking that somewhere down the road I'd be able to do a restore if needed. Is this a known issue?

Any ideas on this much appreciated.

Dave

Ubuntu | VirtualMin | Wordpress | Unable to update plugins, add items to menu | Permission problems?

Hello,

I believe that I have searched long and hard and I haven't found an answer to my issue I'm experiencing.

I have Virtualmin and Webmin installed on a VPS running Ubuntu 14.04 LTS. I have a Wordpress site running on Virtualmin successfully, but there appear to be some permission issues.

I cannot update any plugins, I am presented with a page requesting that I input FTP details. I am also unable to add any items to any menus.

virtualmin pro feature pre-sales question

hello - i distinctly remember asking this before, but am unable to locate the answer, sorry.

does the "pro" version have a way to limit the total number of connections from an IP number?

in other words, if i had somebody from China trying to do slowlori or DoS/ddos, does the 'pro' version have a way to limit that IP number to just (for example) 10 connections?

i seem to recall there was an option to do this in the pro version.
