Help! (Home for newbies)

Hello all, Here is what I am trying to do. We have a site already up and running on another server that is in production hosted elsewhere. We will just called it domain.com. We are working on developing another site which will replace that one in house, and will be hosted in house once complete. Right now DNS for that server is pointed where it needs to go to the external production server. On my in house Virtualmin server, I created a new virtual server also named domain.com, so once we go live, I can just point DNS to the new IP, and it should take over.

this is my first post so please bear with me. I have fresh install of virtualmin on CentOS-7 using install.sh script.

now i would like to install PHP-5.1.6 (currently system has PHP version 5.4.16 installed) so that i can choose old version of php for some of virtual server i will create.

Do i need to install webmin http://www.webmin.com/download.html
before virtualmin http://virtualmin.com/download
My requirements- I want to run 3 different websites(domains) on a VPS with wordpress and cloudfare dns. So what do I need webmin or virtualmin..
I saw a youtube video where that guy installed Virtualmin GPL for linux directly.
I read somewhere that virtualmin is a module of webmin and cant work without webmin so do you have to install webmin first.

installation issues?

Background. I'm running a OpenSuse 12.3 server using Webmin / Virtualmin. This configuration uses eth0 - outside protected by Shorewall and two internal networks supported by DHCP. (Also running email and web server on this machine. Works perfectly and has for a few years.

I've spent most of the day trying to get a subdomain working. It is clear I'm not the only one struggling with this stuff. Much of the stuff I've found searching has been out of date and it is hard to get an overview of what is what. Answers to simple questions like - do I need my own DNS and do I need BIND aren't obvious.

I have setup my laptop with Centos 6.7 on foobar.net. I created my main Virtual domain, foobar.com. Everything is working great, except I cannot seem to login remotely, with thunderbird, and access my root email, for foobar.net.

I've chaged my vps, now running with Debian 8 but when I go: Webmin --> System --> Software Packages --> Package Tree

On many package when I click on them I've "Package is no longer installed"

I've the problem on my 2 vps under Debian Jessie and I've test on a local and it's the same.

I've make a dpkg --get-selections and all packages are listed ok.

How can I correct this ?

On one server, the system information page shows only SSH server status. All others have gone.

I don't know what happened, but more generally where to define wich server show up in the STATUS section of the webmin system information page?

Running on CentOS 6.7, fresh minimal install.

I just set up Virtualmin and want to change my host name. It is currently dream.foobar.com. I want to change the name to dream.foobar.net (.com to .net). I have set up a virtual domain, www.foobar.com.

Is this an easy task to accomplish, or should just reinstall everything? The current installation is only a day old.

dream.foobar.com is only virtual domain I have installed.
