cpanel migrate virtual server

Hi

I have been using cpanel for the past several years and recently I switched to virtualmin due to the flexibility and light weight. I have lots websites hosted under whm/cpanel and I am in the process of migrating them in to virtualmin. I am using the virtualmin 'Migrate Virtual Server' feature to migrate my cpanel accounts in to virtualmin (SSH Server option with cpanel backup). So everything works fine without any issues except for some strange folder under all 'virtual server' public_html directory

Bug or something, no permissions

I tried everything on the net but I don't want to screw my server up. I created a new virtual server and want to put some files in the folder. So, when I go to http://localhost/ the server gave the 403 error, even when I want to go on my computer to /home/website/ the folder gave me the same error. I tried chmod and everything but none of them worked.

No access to System Logs

Virtualmin GPL
CentOS 7

This may have happened at the time of the 4.18 gpl update, but the System Logs option under
Webmin > System failed to take me to the list of system logs, with the error:

System Logs: The syslog configuration file /etc/rsyslog.conf was not found on your system. Maybe syslog is not installed, or a newer version like syslog-ng is in use, or the module configuration is incorrect.

one of the things I tried was the 'Refresh Modules' option. Now System Logs is only available in Un-used Modules together with System Logs NG.

What fail2ban jails should I activate?

Hi,

At the moment I only have the following jails enabled: ssh-iptables, dovecot, dovecot-auth,

The server (CentOS 6.7) hosts one basic website only.

I feel that I'm missing some other basic jails that should be activated, .e.g. the Apache ones. Could you please tell me what the other "minimum" jails I should have activated?

Thank you

Dedicated mail server

Hey everyone,

I am looking to setup my own hosting environment for personal use.

I will be using Xenserver to create the following VM's:

Web - Used for hosting the files SQL - Dedicated SQL host Front - I will be setting up pound/haproxy and varnish as the front end

I also want to setup a dedicated mail server outside of my home network.

Default Virtual Servers Apache/ @ var/www/* making set up impossible.

Putting this in newbies section because after weeks of messing about and reading and reading, I do not know how to proceed. I will outline my exact specs as best I can - some will be relevant others may not, but just know I had all of this set up in a half hour the last time I did it (server company went under and backups were not existent (my fault as much as anyone.)

OK, running Proxmox and OpenVZ containers currently, but will surely be changing that to KYM with Cloudmin later, but that is not the trouble.

Can't install phpmyadmin after moving virtual host to another server (permissions issue)

Hi,

I recently moved a web virtual host between two of my Virtualmin VPS machines. This isn't the first time I use this awesome feature, but this time the move did not go very well and I had to change various ownership, permissions, SUexec user and group ID settings to make the website load which was the #1 objective.

'Validate virtual servers' now passes without errors but I still can't make the Script Installer to add phpMyAdmin. I get the following error:

install.sh does not recognize 14.04.3 LTS - is it an issue?

When running install.sh it indicates it does not recognize the version of ubuntu.

here is the version:

ubuntu@ip-172-31-14-224:~$ lsb_release -a No LSB modules are available. Distributor ID: Ubuntu Description: Ubuntu 14.04.3 LTS Release: 14.04

Codename: trusty

Is that because it is 14.04.3 rather than 14.04.0?

Virtualmin generated User Names showing up in login screen

Centos 7 - new install. Virtualmin configured and loaded using install script.

5 severs loaded loaded using restore feature.

I did not see this on my old openSuse server, but now in Centos 7 ALL the usernames created by virtualmin are showing up on the Login Screen, and of course the one I want is "off screen".

I've searched and cannot find a solution. All the Virtualmin "users" are created with a UID of 500++, and my login was created with a UID of 1000.

I've tried all the GDM workarounds, nothing helped.

Anyone have a suggestion?

Nigel.
