Got a problem not covered by the docs? Don't know where to look in the docs or in the forums? All of the other forums over your head? If you're new to Virtualmin, this is the place for you.

Can't log in to Webmin from internal home network?

This is a commonly asked question, so I thought I would post this as a FAQ.

PROBLEM: I can't log in to Webmin or Virtualmin at http://192.168.1.x:10000 or 20000 (or at any home/private IP address e.g. http://10.1.1.x:10000 ). I host my server at home / within a home network.

POSSIBLE CAUSES:

1. DNS Issue

If you receive a timeout error when viewing http://192.168.1.x:10000, check that you have set your DNS settings correctly. Your domain name may not be pointing to your server.

PHP 5 and PHP 4 administration

some newbie questions: 1) Is it possible to set php5 on a virtualserver (dom1.ext) and php4 for another virtualserver (dom2.ext) on same server ? 2) If yes, I understood it was possible, how ?

Notes: I have tryed to switch under Server Configuration -> Website Options to FCGId (run as virtual server owner) and other options too but nothing happened except a PHP 4 configuration under Services when FCGId on

thank you in advance CentOS 4.5 Virtualmin Pro (latest stable ver)

Not getting email.

Debian 4 box, newest Virtualmin.

I am using dynamic dns from dnsexit.com. I moved my server from one location to another to get faster internet, so of course my IP changed. I updated it at dnsexit and everything seems to work, except I'm not getting any email to any of the accounts. Outlook logs in and checks the email with no problem, and the server sends it OK, just doesn't get any. Could this be because of the IP change at dnsexit? Does it have to propogate through the internet again?

Failed to query Postfix config command

Hi,

I'm a proud subscriber of my own VPS account for the first time, and I decided to go for Virtualmin - which I have not regretted. It's versatile and it's now very easy to manage my system. Thanks for that!

Everything works fine except for one small annoyance. When logging in to Virtualmin and checking the system information it reports MySQL server as not started. I sure can tell it's started, because everything works as it should and the mysqld daemon us running properly. When clicking "Start MySQL" I get a strange error message:

Is total server quota a firm quota?

Is the total server quota a hard quote? IE: if the quota is 1024 mb, is that space allocated and taken from other usage on the disk or is it just a file size limit that can't be gone over? I ask because giving 1024 mb as standard could use up a disc pretty quick if it is unavailable, especially if the site only needs 50 mb.

Also what is the difference between total server quota and server administrators quota? I'm assuming they should be the same.

Thanks.

Failed to install script

when I try to install a script this is the error I get: "Failed to install script: Download of http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/squirrelmail/squirrelmail-1.4.9a.tar.gz failed : Failed to lookup IP address for prdownloads.sourceforge.net"

when I ping prdownloads.sourceforge.net in an xterm, everything is fine.

I have installed scripts before without a problem.

what do I do wrong?

Signatures can't be verified

Any idea what this means or why I'm getting it when I run apt-get update or restart the server? Fresh debian 4 and virtualmin pro:

W: GPG error: http://software.virtualmin.com virtualmin-etch Release: The following signatures couldn't be verified because the public key is not available: NO_PUBKEY E8DD3FA0A0BDBCF9 W: You may want to run apt-get update to correct these problems

Thanks.
