Got a problem not covered by the docs? Don't know where to look in the docs or in the forums? All of the other forums over your head? If you're new to Virtualmin, this is the place for you.

Virtualmin behind NAT router

Hi there,

My situation is a little complex so please bear with me. I've just installed Virtualmin on a fresh minimal install of Debian 4.0. The software works great (kudos to the team!) but I'm having issues regarding NAT. Unfortunately, I have a rather old router that doesn't support translation from within the network - any requests to my external IP are bitbucketed into the gateway/router.

POP3 failure after YUM upgrade

Heya peeps!

Around 48hrs ago I noticed that yum downloaded and installed an absolute slew of updates (around 248 I think). Since then I am unable to download any of my e-mails via outlook externally, although I am positive they are actually being delivered as I can read them with the 'Read User E-Mail' function in virtualmin.

I have a default Centos 5 install with virtualmin... nothing else fancy or unusual. Any ideas whats gone wrong?

Virtualmin - multiple physical machines

Really enjoying Virtualmin - great product! Now developing our world domination plans :)

The first thing I looking for is information on how best to manage a number of different physical machines using Virtualmin.

I have had a quick read through the VM2 docs which seem to have a fair but of information on Xen and other virtualisation techniques, but only a passing reference to managing multiple physical machines:

License Error

Now re-checking your Virtualmin licence .. .. a problem was detected : Your serial number is licenced for only 1 servers, but is being used on 3.

How do I fix this? It is only installedon one server finaly. I have been trying to install it for the past week on various machines and OS's. I gave up on Solaris and installed on Debian 4.0.

Is there anyway to refresh this error? Doesnt it to live checks or something?

Backup failing

Using GPL version ...

I'm running backup and it is successfully saving the first 5 virtual-hosts but when it gets to the 6th (secure.my-web-site.com on port 443) it fails with a "Vhost not found" (Unfortunately that's the extent of the message). The other strange thing is that this happens just before creating the tar file, all the "normal" information is displayed.

I've checked the apache conf file and the web site is up and running with no problems reported.

Any ideas?

Nigel.

Moving server

Hi all.

I what to drop my fedora core 6 and use cento 5.

I have installed centos and whant to move the data.

I make a backup and uploaded to the new server. (btw - backup and restoring takes to looooooooong time. Only 4 gigs, and 2 hours?)

And starting to restore again. But server templates, are not been backup up. Why not?

Does anyone have a "howto replace your server? - and still be able to use your backup data!"

Peter.

access permissions set wrong

Access permissions set wrong on the virtual server install. I find I must go to /home and do a chmod 755 on the users folder after I install the virtual server using a server template to install it. Is there some place I can change that. I did also find I had to do that on the public_html folder also, but that was a setting in the server template, but not the user folder.
