How do I tell postfix to listen and accept connections on port 587?

Hello

I have a very basic question...

I am currently logging into virtualmin with my root username and password. is this a bad idea? Should I create a different user for admin the box through virtualmin?

Are there pros and cons?

I keep seeing these errors in my mail.log

spamd[535]: dns: sendto() failed: Connection refused at /usr/share/perl5/Mail/SpamAssassin/DnsResolver.pm line 340, <GEN339> line 144.

What should I start looking for?

Hi,

Out of a sudden, ProFTPd stopped working and I cannot start it again. I did work yesterday, but stopped during the night. After clicking "Start PorFTPd" on the System Information page, I only get Failed to start service : Starting proftpd: [FAILED]

In addition to that I cannot find any log-entry connected with it.

Any ideas?

I'm really new to this whole DNS thing

what should I do after I register ns1.mydomain.com with my registar? I searched and searched the forum but couldn't find a straight guide for this particular thing, only bits of info. next step is to go to Zone Defaults and add my ns1.domain.com there, but how, and where exactly should I add it?

can vm handle subdomains of subdomains?

for some reason, i can't get it to work.

for example, www.widgets.com -- main domain site1.widgets.com -- subdomain test.site1.widgets.com -- subdomain of subdomain.

I tried everything, but test.site1.widgets.com will just not work for me, i used the vm forms, etc... but i just keep getting "server not found"...

Hey There!

Are the size of the log files included in the domain's quota?

I was thinking about to put the log files under /var/log/apache/{DOM}/, but haven't tested it yet. If i change the server template will the configuration of awstats and webalizer change?

Hi Everyone,

I'm in the process of setting up Virtualmin on Amazon EC2, I used the image provided for this and have everything up and running.

Now I'm lost with trying to add a domain I have registered at GoDaddy to my Virtualmin setup. I have added the virtual server for the domain but what are my name servers to fill in for Godaddy to point to my new Virtualmin server?

I have things working by using a 3rd party DNS provider and pointing to my elastic ip from Amazon... but can I take the 3rd party out of the equation and do everything through Virtualmin?

Newly created domains have spam and clam setup fine and I can manage the settings but on the domains I've migrated from cPanel backups I can't seem to work out how to enable spam checking for them... any pointers please?

I'm lost. I've a newly installed CentOS 5.1 server with VM-Pro (standard installation). I'm not able to receive any mail. I also had problems sending mail (the postfix main.cf "smtpd_sasl_security_options = noanonymous" was missing). Here's my config, hopefully someone can help. If you need more info, please let me know.
