Help! (Home for newbies)

I have one Virtualmin instance running with some virtual servers on a VPS: host2.domain.com I have the domain reg of domain.com pointing to the IP, and then all of the subdomains,e.g. test.domain.com and the serv host2.domain.com are resolved by BIND on that server.

I am out of room on that server and I am now setting up a second server: host3.domain.com. I would like for the BIND server on host2 to resolve the address for host3 and any virtual servers installed on that.

I'm using the latest virtualmin on ubuntu 16.04

I've used the migration tool to import a cpanel backup. My email accounts have been migrated, but not my emails themselves (my inbox is empty when I connect to the webmail). Is this normal behavior? I'd love to be able to access my old emails...

Today I installed git and enabled it for one of my virtual hosts. I was able to create a repository and to push my local changes to it. Now if I want to create a snapshot of the repository (clicking on the snapshot link next to a repository in the project list) I only get a 404 response:

The requested URL /git/myproject.git-snapshot-HEAD.tar.bz2 was not found on this server.

There is nothing to find in the apache error logs. Any ideas why the snapshots aren't working?

I had to start fresh with my VPN. I restored my backup. I can access virtualmin however, my website is completely inaccessible, both the domain and subdomain I have. At first, before I restarted, the domain worked fine but the subdomain displayed the main domain's page.

I'm almost at the end of my cpanel -> virtualmin migration. I just need to get my email addresses back. I'm using Thunderbird, my settings are smtp port 465, server my hostname, username user@domain.com, imap port 993 . I have four problems:

I have used the Migration form to move a cpanel backup to my new Ubuntu 16.04 VPS with a fresh Virtualmin install on it. The migration successfully completed. In the cpanel backup, there was a main (empty) domain and 7 addon domains with a simple Wordpress site installed on each.

I went ahead and changed the VPS IP for my main domain in Cloudflare's dashboard, and changed the VPS IP for one of the addon domains, waited a few minutes, refreshed my addon domain main page, and got the error

I am having a problem to connect with my website name when I am in the same network as my self hosted server. I looked up for the solution on various websites and forums and found out that the best solution for this to use split DNS if your router does not support hairpinning. Unfortunately, I am completely new to the networking world and do not understand how can I implement split DNS for my web server in virtualmin BIND DNS.

Any help or information on step by step guide to setup split DNS would be really appreciated.

i use Virtualmin v6.04 on a Debian Linux 8. I updated but no change...

After installing virtualmin using the install.sh script I found out with pleasure that firewalld was already activated and settled up, however checking out the policy used I noticed in the public zone (which is set as default zone) some things I do not understand.

I see the rule type "service" for ssh, dhcpv6-client, smtp, smtps,ftp, pop3, pop3s, imap, imaps, http, https..

Then I see that several ports and port ranges rules, but some are overlapping other rules

Ok, I have tried on looking up on setting up DNS with namecheap the proper way and there isn't one, I like to know how to setup the domain and nameserver is detail as possible, I mean detail in laming terms and the update tutorial from the old version virtual to the newest version of virtualmin that we have now. Because i tried to setup the DNS and it just doesnt work, i wait for propergation in the 48 to 72 hrs and the DNS just doesn't work.
