Databases and Username Prefix
I've configured Virtualmin so that users can create their own databases: Administration Options > Edit Owner Limits > Can choose database names? > Yes.
Got a problem not covered by the docs? Don't know where to look in the docs or in the forums? All of the other forums over your head? If you're new to Virtualmin, this is the place for you.

My existing customer authentication for postfix and proftpd is done via a mysql database. Is this something that Virtualmin supports?
Hello,
I have a very generic, stock installation, CentOS5, and Virtualmin with all the updates. None of my domains are receiving email. I think it has to do with lookup-domain.pl. I searched the forums, and found what the script should be, and created it, but I think it needs to exist other places than /etc/webmin/virtual-server/lookup-domain.pl.
For that matter, it is no where on the system, not even in /usr/share, or /usr/lib. So I think something didn't install right, but I can't figure out what.
How can I configure it so that a user cannot (easily) see outside of their own domain area on the server? I have read posts that debate whether unix permissions should be sufficient to safeguard user files. And, while that's important, that's not what I'm writing about here. It's about (the perception of) privacy.
I've just purchased the Pro product and have a fundamental question. When I create my first domain owned by "fatbear", say fatbear.com, it creates the home directory as: [code:1]/home/fatbear/public_html[/code:1] When I add an additional domain as a sub-server such as fatbear.net, it creates it as: [code:1]/home/fatbear/domains/fatbear.net/public_html[/code:1] And, when I add a sub-domain such as new.fatbear.com, it creates it as: [code:1]/home/fatbear/public_html/new[/code:1] I worry about the problems:
I upgraded to Virtualmin Pro and I am not sure what I am using for Spam Protection. ClamAV or Spamassassin?
Is either configured by default?
Any newbie guides out there to help guide me on setting this up properly?
Thank you
Hello Joe and giant support staff, I've lost access to Vmin. Browser seeks :10000 and does not find! Webmin works. WWW pages show up.
Am going to switch to CEntOS shortly, I give up on all the problems I've had with Fedora. Soon as I work out how........... :-)
Cheers! John https://fablor.net:10000
Joe,
I tried to follow the instructions at http://doxfer.com/Webmin/ApacheWebserver#Setting_up_server_side_includes
However, the "Process includes on files with execute bit?" field is nowhere to be found.
VirtualMin 3.57 on Ubuntu Server 8.04LTS installed using the automatic install.
I urgently need to find out where in the GUI I can protect specific directories with a user and password such that the .htaccess files are created (which I do not know how to do by hand)
Our migration from Plesk did not bring these over and this is a major security risk for some site areas. I had to take our wiki.hindu.org down (knocked it off the DNS) until I can find out how to do this.
I installed virtuamin from script on ubuntu 8.04. I,ve create virtual server named turski.eu, and create sub-server rafal.turski.eu. Then I connect to the ftp server, and copy all files need by my page to public_html, and when I write the adress in firefox I see only "It works!" - the apache home page.. and I'dont know what to do. Can You help me with this issue?
Regards RafaÅ
