Got a problem not covered by the docs? Don't know where to look in the docs or in the forums? All of the other forums over your head? If you're new to Virtualmin, this is the place for you.

some sites Not Functioning Good, others ok???!!

Hi,

I have a dozen sites running on a Centos box, mostly pretty smooth sailing untiul the last few days when some sites are working only intermittently. So for example, just now I typed www.choked.ca and get a directory listing for the cgi directory (which I don't have access permission to.) For others, such as www.stjosephsschool.ca everything is smooth. I don't see why this is happening, any ideas? No recent changes that I'm aware of.

problem using proxy website in virtualmin

hi all,

I've run into a problem recently. I am trying to move some of my websites over to a new physical server I've rented. here's my current setup : HostPC running Debian & vmware server & virtualmin - 1 dedicated IP address VM1 virtual system running ubuntu desktop & webmin (for easy apache access) network : 192.168.227.0 VM2 virtual system running ubuntu desktop & webmin (for easy apache access) network : 192.168.227.0 I've setup a virtual server on the host, configuring it to Proxy to website : http://VM1.local/

default website on IP

Probably a very simple answer - one of my clients - blahblah.ie - has asked why when you type in http://123.123.123.123 do you get the billybob.ie site? Is that some sort of default?

I have all the sites set-up on a shared IP , i would presume this would cause the issue , however why would site billybob.ie get shown on the default IP rather than any of the other site sharing that IP , and how can this be changed, fixed?

Help: Removing Unnecessary extra services installed by virtualmin

I have installed virtualmin/webmin on a debian 5.0 Lenny server using install.sh and feel I have ended up with alot of extra services I dont need and whant to know if I can safely remove them and how

1st up what the server WONT be doing

Receiving emails

Hosting Mailboxes

Hosting DNS locally

PostGreSQL

What the server WILL be doing

Serving Websites

Apache

PHP5

Mysql

Sending emails

Virtual Servers/Hosts

Quotas

webmin/virtualmin

Based on this I dont think I need

move cgi-bin to apache document root

I have almost finished migrating all of our (100+) websites from an old redhat box to a new vmware-ubuntu-virtualmin box. So far, so good. We are already reaping the benefits of having a console that non-tech people can use to manage email acounts, freeing up technical resources. Managing quotas, checking machine resources, etc., is a snap with your interface. I do not know how I managed without it!

Removing unnecessary Debian packages

Hello,

I am having trouble with removing unnecessary Debian packages.

When I am trying to remove package via Virtualmin, I got an error:

Failed to delete package rdoc :

dpkg: dependency problems prevent removal of <>:
virtualmin-base depends on <>; however:
Package <> is to be removed.
dpkg: error processing <> (--remove):

Trouble Importing a Vpopmail Domain

I am testing Virtualmin GPL on our webserver host and decided that part of my test would be importing an existing domain. We use vpopmail, which when adding new domains is working as expected. This domain is email only at the moment. When I go to the import frame in Virtualmin, there are choices regarding how to detect email domains. None make sense with vpopmail based domains. Is there a way to import a vpopmail domain? Thanks much.

installing virtualmin knocked out my existing vhosts

I installed virtualmin on debian lenny via the install script (install.sh). It told me I had an unqualified domain name which was just "mydomain" without the .com. So I typed in "mydomain.com" and I when I restarted apache2, it gives me this message:

[warn] default VirtualHost overlap on port 80, the first has precedence

I would like to remove virtualmin for now and just have my vhosts functioning because I need to get some work done on the sites that were up under it.
