Using Proftp in a webhosting environment with multiple virtual servers

hi guys, once again i am back with more questions...seems the more i ask and learn...the more questions i ask.

From having played a bit with ISPConfig, i went through the arduous task of coming to a basic understanding of using passive mode with ftp when one has multiple shared resources (im assuming in virtualmin terms i am correctly calling these virtual servers?).

The quota limitation for disk usage in /home/

Hi there. I'm new to Virtualmin.

I was about to create a Virtual Server and scope via ssh the website from other server so did I.. almost. While transferring files an error occurred: "No space left on device" so i went into Account Plans configuration and increased Disk Quota to 1TB. Then I tried to scope again but the same error appears.

How can I deal with it? Thx!

Best User Installation method

Hi guys,

My installations originally were done using the root user. However, i am now starting to think there is a better way (perhaps what you guys may say is the proper way).

In the following options... 1. Which is best? 2. Are there any advantages one over the other, if so what are they are why? 3. Is there an option 3 which is better?

Option 1

Install using the ubuntu root user (ie "sudo su" to root user)

Cannot Install Cloudmin on Google Cloud Compute Platform

hi guys, i realise this is a cloudmin issue, but im a newbie so i thought i had better stick with the newbies area.

In following the instructions on installing cloudmin GPL on debian systems (mine is ubuntu 16.04) ...

Basic Setup Check

Hi guys, sorry for all of the posts...i have a lot to absorb. After much ado, i finally have a set of servers in place and would like to use this thread to go through my setup ironing out any potential problems you guys can see before i install WHMCS and go live (selling online hosting).

I have the following servers

host1 (Virtualmin Pro, 1 vcpu, 1.7 BG RAM, ephenumeral ip) ns1 - primary name server (virtualmin GPL, 1 vcpu, 0.6GB RAM, static IP) ns2 - secondary nameserver (Webmin, 1 vcpu, 0.6GB RAM, ephenumeral IP)

ERROR_CONNECTION_REFUSED

hi guys, i too have experienced this problem...and i note that quite often today i have experienced issues with the connectivity to webmin. I am running it on a small instance (600MB RAM and 1VCPU@ 2.5 GHZ) although my install is not needing to provide DNS or MAIL server. Essentially this will be just for webhosting sites such as Wordpress.

I have managed to get back into my server by accessing it from ssh and manually restarting webmin.

I am after some hints on minimal webwin/virtualmin install capable of hosting wordpress websites (I am using virtualmin pro)

Virtualmin problem starting services i have stopped using "system > bootup and shutdown"

hi guys, I went into system>bootup and shutdown and shutdown apache2 by selecting it, going down to the bottom of the window and choosing "disable now and on boot"

the system updates to show in the column on rhs next to apache2 "start at boot = no" "running now = no"

If i go back down the bottom and change it to "start now and on boot" the system updates the columns next to apache2 to show "start at boot = yes" however "running now = no"

Apache2 is not running and will not start using any method i have tried within webmin.

apache 2 default page shown in stead of website after moving to new sever

Hi,

I got a new sever, it runs ubuntu 16.4 and was completely fresh. I then installed virtualmin using the install script. All went fine.

I then went back to my old sever, backed up the different websites and unpacked them, using restore, on the new server.

(the old server has older stuff: php5 in stead of 7, Ubuntu Linux 14.04.1in stead of 16.04, but webmin and virtualmin versions are the same)

Now, when I try to see them, I see the default apache page, which says:
