Got a problem not covered by the docs? Don't know where to look in the docs or in the forums? All of the other forums over your head? If you're new to Virtualmin, this is the place for you.

Ubuntu 18.04 - confusing install with Virtualmin

I decided after having issues with Centos 7 and Kernel 4.7 (needed for AMD Ryzen support) to use Ubuntu 18.04 which uses the Kernel 5.

So, fresh minimal install with gui of 18.04, Install Virtualmin immediately (no issues reported, install clean).

So far ...

1/ Nothing shows in Network Interfaces all blank, but interfaces do show in "active". Something to do with VirtualMin (still) not using Netplan, found instructions on turning Ubuntu back to "old method" but they flew over my head.

User permissions within public_html for Apache/FCGId

Having troubles with the permissions for the user's public_html folders.

Directory get created with username:username as owner/group. Website kinda works, but certain things (writing to files, uploading stuff within Wordpress and so on) does not - its showing permissions problem.

If I change the user/group to www-data everything works as expected.

I suspected suexec as problem, but that does not seem to be the case.

Primary nameserver cannot be resolved from the rest of the Internet : Host test.example.com not found: 2(SERVFAIL)

I know this is idiotic, but could someone help me getting my domain, eg example.com, to work with virtualmin? Eg, I would like to be able to access virtualmin from test.example.com:10000

During the Post Installation Wizard, I got this error (I was using my IP 108.62.5.36:1000 for interface): "Primary nameserver cannot be resolved from the rest of the Internet : Host test.example.com not found: 2(SERVFAIL)"

My VPS system is Ubuntu 18.04 LTS on digitalocean vps. My hostname name is test.example.com

New VPS fails to work out externally visible IP address

Hello all, I did a fresh install of Ubuntu 18.04 on a VPS. I ran through the usual steps and assigned it a hostname (sub.domain.tld that I control), ran through the install script, and completed the post-install wizard. I go to create a new server and I get:

"Failed to create virtual server : Failed to work out externally visible IP address"

I want to note that I already (and purposely) trashed out a previous install from trying to troubleshoot, hence the fresh install of 18.04, and I notice that updates will no longer install either as they return:

[AUTH] Plaintext authentication disallowed on non-secure (SSL/TLS) connections.

Hello i am trying to read my somename@superhost.gr via GMail so to have both Gmail and domain mail together. But when GMail tries to read that mail it gives me as output:

'Server returned error: "[AUTH] Plaintext authentication disallowed on non-secure (SSL/TLS) connections."

What is the exact steps i need to take in order to be able to read my domain's mail through GMail?

ALL websites requests point to a specific domain

Hello, i use CentOS7 and Webmin/VirtualMin.

i have 4 sites:

kidsclubpaidika.gr

ypsilandio.gr

varsa.gr

superhost.gr

After i removed httpd httpd-devel and reinstalled it, for some peculiar reason all my websites requests point to a specific domain of mine being superhost.gr instead of their own content.

Could you please explain to me why this might happen and how to fix it?

Thank you all.

New Server - mail not working (SMTP on 25 doesn't seem to be open)

Hi,

I'm trying to test WebMin/VirtualMin on a new VPS (hosted with contabo). They setup LAMP, I added VirtualMin and everything seems to be OK, pointed a bunch of test domains at it and setup the virtual servers, and that all seems to have worked OK. test websites work, but mail doesn't. When I do a port scan to the server I don't see 25 open, and when I do a DNS Report from DNSstuff.com I get this error, "failed message send with: failed cx open with: failed socket connect with: Connection refused".
