How difficult is it to move a virtual server to another box?

Suppose I have a CentOS box set up as a webserver in one geographical location and I move an entire virtual server on that CentOS box to a separate data center (or maybe the same data center, but I want a different VPS with a different OS).

Assuming the old an new servers are using Virtualmin how difficult is this?

I am a 22 year old software developer from the Netherlands. 2 months ago I built my own server that runs Ubuntu. I installed LAMP and FTP. This way I could create websites via my own server. In the beginning I wanted to install DirectAdmin as I have at work. But I soon discovered that it cost money. So I went to look further. Then I came across Webmin and saw that it can be expanded with Virtualmin. I followed the official tutorial and some other ones I found on Google. But I still couldn't get it right with the hostname and name servers of my domain.

I want to create a user for the sole purpose of pulling backups via Rsync to a NAS on my lan. I have a FreeNAS box running on my LAN, and my CentOS server does a daily backup to a local directory (~/backup).

I want to pull in each daily backup from the CentOS to my FreeNAS box.

I suppose I could do this as root, but I figured it makes more sense to make dedicated backup user that can only read the contents of the /backup directory.

My question is: How do I create a user that only has access to /backup?

Hello, New and first post. I currently have the following multi-server setup using ISPConfig:

• ispconfig admin
• web-sp (web and MySQL)
• web-us (web and MySQL)
• mail (email and Roundcube webmail)
• mail2 (backup relay)
• ns1
• ns2

I want to replicate this setup using webmin, virtualmin and Roundcube using WHMCS as the billing module. As far as I can tell from docs I should do the following:

I have DSL and my IP changes with every disconnection. As my external IP changes, I want the server to update everything automatically but I can't find the information on how to do this anywhere. I'm running a pfSense router and it manages my IP updates to my domain using afraid.org so that part is covered. I got Virtualmin running fine... I see that Virtualmin has an option for Dynamic IP Update however I don't know how I can use it, I see it has an option for a script? I'm really wondering how I can make this work properly.

The Apache logs are all stored in /var/log/virtualmin The way it was setup: each shell/sftp user had read access to their own log files in the above directory, but not to their archives So, one of my colleagues who had root access, tried adding one of the users to a group, etc and screwed it up. Now no user can read the log files.

How do i reset the permissions of the log files without having to reinstall virtualmin all over again?

i am running virtualmin on centos with php7.3 and laravel installed.

And under server configuration->website options was mod_php enabled. After a bit of reading I tought it is an option to remove/disable mod_php. Now mod_php is not listed under server configuration->website options, but if I go to server-configuration->php versions, it says mod_php is installed.

I want to set up a daily backup for all of the virtual servers on my Droplet.

I want them in /backup and I only want to keep a single daily backup (I will pull these dailies into weeklies/monthlies from a NAS on my LAN).

I made the directory /backup but when I click to schedule the backup (with the delete option), I get error message "Failed to save scheduled backup : Deletion of old backups is only supported when a date-based destination is used, and strftime substitutions are enabled".

I am assuming I need to name my directory somehow, but how do I do it?
