Hello,
I'm trying to preview my website with my IP address on my VPS. I do not have a domain name yet so I cannot use one. In virtualmin, I have already set up a virtual server, and I added an index.html file in the public_html directory. What would the URL be for previewing my website? I basically want something like http://ip.com/username, or whatever it may be.

Post edited by: TheTitans, at: 2009/03/29 09:22
Howdy,
There's a few options in Virtualmin for how to handle that -- the Preview Website option, adding a DNS alias, or even adding the domain name to your Windows or Linux hosts file. There's some thoughts on how to set all that up here:

Well, the preview website option keeps on redirecting me to a URL like this: https://myip:10000/virtual-server/link.cgi/::1/http://www.mydomain.com/
And of course, that doesn't work.
I followed the directions in the link you gave me with going to the Apache Webmin module and entering /home/%0/public_html in the field. I did that, but then what do I do next?

I have no idea how that could happen. What's in your Apache VirtualHost section for this site?

So, there's your problem. How'd you get ::1 in the address? That's utterly nonsensical and will never work for anything. ;-)
See this doc:

I suspect you have some misconfiguration in the areas covered there.

Trying to revive this old issue. It is possible for my clients to preview their URLs before DNS propogation, and without being logged in?
