Installation sequence

Hi, what is the right way to install Virtualmin - do I have to install first Webmin and Usermin (like in the Tutorial) - do I need the modules virtualmin-themes or not? Or do I have to install only Virtualmin at first on a new Linux OS ? Thank you

regards, Johannes

sorry it didnt.

here, with automatic shell script, is written that i need only the OS and the sh-script:
http://www.virtualmin.com/documentation/id,virtualmin_installation_quick...

and here, with manual installation, is written that i need several dependencies - required components, like "Install Webmin, Usermin, and Virtualmin modules" and "After getting all of the above dependencies installed, it's useful to install Webmin and Usermin and the Virtualmin modules"
http://www.virtualmin.com/documentation/id,virtualmin_manual_installatio...

So my question is unanswered .. I ask because i had troubles with automatic shellscript and tried to install required components manually, i got troubles.
It would be helpful to know if I can use ONLY the first OR the second method, or if I could mix them. It would be also nice to know the right sequence before un- and reinstalling all again, i tried already very often. thank you.

You cannot mix the two methods--the install script is too stupid to deal with anything other than a freshly installed OS. We strongly recommend getting the automated install working rather than installing manually--manual installation is extremely time-consuming and prone to errors.

I believe you also have a ticket about this problem in the issue tracker--we'll try to get your problems resolved today. I'm sure it's something simple, and once I've figured out what it is, I'll add better checks to the install script to deal with it.
